This weekend we got out our John Deere 105 Corn Special to finish up the 2020 corn harvest. Back in early April we planted about 20 acres of 38" row corn for our show, 100 Years of HorsePOWER. Due to COVID we had to cancel our show, but still had to harvest this corn. After a little head adjustment, the 105 did an excellent job and handled the 200+ bushel corn great. Along with all of this, we managed to cover a couple hundred acres of bean ground a couple miles from the farm. Stay tuned for more 105 Combine action! Thanks for watching, and I will see you on the next one!

Hearing final drive whine brought back memories. Also split doors,if bottom door was closed, top open for air,then closing top door and not placing fingers just right,a finger nail would be lost.

My Dad had two 105's and we ran them for months every harvest. Barley , spring wheat, in July and August then millet, flax and finally sunflowers usually in November. Started running them when I was 9 years old.

Does such an old machine still work properly? Does it leave crop in the field or take too long? Just curious.
@truthandfreedom885
@truthandfreedom885 10 ай бұрын
I think an experienced operator could set the combine up to catch close to the same amount of crop, but even if you could get the parts, keep them running and find enough operators to run the machines a JD 105 would not make any economic sense to run. In my opinion depending on the size of the operation at the very oldest of a machine would be the John Deere 8820 Titan 2 would be the oldest, smallest combines to make sense to run. And unless it was about a thousand acre farm that would still be too small. But if you ask 10 people you'll get 10 different opinions.

LOVE this video. The quote "she's a dandy" made me smile. I attended HS in Belleville IL, but am from Nebraska. Is that 105 a diesel? My dad had a 95, but our wheat acreage (and his 3 drills pulled by a 4wd Wagner tractor) was way ahead of what even a 105 could do, so he hired custom cutters to take off some of our wheat. He did start growing corn, but I don't think he had a corn header for the 95, so I'm not sure how we harvested that. The inside the cab shots are great, but it seems like the video is backwards (things that are supposed to be on the right are on the left, etc).

@@RennerStockFarms Everything got auctioned off when he passed away in 1973. Around the early 1990s, I happened to be driving some backroads in that same county; I turned a corner and there it was sitting in a field looking like it was still getting used. I think it was a WA 14. BTW, I have an ION Air Pro 2 action cam, and it does the same thing--just randomly records one video with the image flipped so left is right.

I'm not a Deere man but a video like this inspires me to look for a nice Gleaner G or CII. Been some nice ones I've passed on with no shed space but I could rent space or been thinking on building a 50 or 80 foot extension to my shop. Even if I tarped one for awhile, better than the scrappers gobbling them up. I do have an E that I've had since 1988 or so. Also have an L2 and R52 but they aren't toys.

We ran a 105 diesel hydro for 15 years. Pump was set up max with a second radiator to keep it cool. Shelled a bunch of 200+ BPA corn pushing a 643 corn head. Shelling corn we would remove the bottom screen, tailings elevator belt and cover the tailings auger trough. We had a speed up pulley for the clean grain elevator. In really good corn we could put 1000 bushels an hour through it in a long field with an auger wagon.
