Using my John Deere 2038r and the Landpride tiller, I'll demonstrate that the 74" tiller is a good fit with the John Deere 2038r. This compact tractor makes tillling gardens and landscape projects very easy. The 74" tiller is not too large for the tractor and I'll show you several reasons why I chose the Landpride tiller.
Welcome to my channel, I'm in Dubuque Iowa, and my channel is known as Today in Iowa or Bill Burkhart 1025 and I'm a do it yourselfer & rural enthusiast. Be sure and check out my channel and the many videos including the John Deere 2038r compact tractor and the John Deere 1025R loader backhoe, and the many implements I use to maintain my property.

@@billburkhart Believe it or not, I downsized from a 5065E. The 5065E was a great machine, but was a bit cumbersome to have near the house, and properly sized implements for it get expensive in a hurry. I live near town on 5 acres and my wife inherited her 100 acre farm that’s about 60 miles away. I currently don’t have a tow vehicle or trailer to move the 5065E and it was going to take a lot of money to get there. By downsizing, I can tow the 2038R with what I have and was able to get a lot of useful implements for the same monthly payment (0% financing but moving from a 60 month to an 84 month loan). It will save me in the long run by not having to switch to a 3/4 ton tow rig. So I sold my 5065E with loader, bucket, forks, and box blade last week for what I paid for it new 2 years ago (only 94 hours on the clock) and my package includes: 2038R with radial R3’s, wheel spacers, loaded rear tires, and 2 sets of wheel weights 220R MSL with 3rd function, bucket, grapple, forks, and single point hydraulic connection (although the 3rd function will have its own connectors) 72D MMM with load ‘n go ramps 270B backhoe with hydraulic thumb iMatch Dual rear remotes 3062 tiller MX 5 brush hog Additional led work lights with brush guards for all the lights I’ve already ordered an Everything Attachments 72” wicked box blade As you can see, I’ve added a tremendous amount of versatility compared to what I had and I can haul it around with what I have. My monthly payment will decrease about $5 a month, there’s just several more months involved. Anyway, thanks for entertaining me as I wait for my delivery day to arrive!

@@ibwaldo OMG you’re living the dream….100 acre farm and a new trac and all the Impliment’s you’ll need to do about anything……wow I’m jealous. I’d sure like to see that third function on the front end. How it’s installed and what the design looks like. Some aftermarket third functions look very cobbled up and I have no interest in them. Again, congratulations you’re going to have a blast over the winter and going in the spring. Enjoy your upcoming week and stay in touch.-Bill

@@billburkhart The farmhouse sits in the middle of a 40 acre lot and another 40 acre lot is candy corner to it. Of that 80 acres, all but about 35 acres is underwater of a 126 acre flood control reservoir. The other 20 acres is about a 1/2 mile away and completely wooded except for a 1 acre, spring fed pond. So a 100 acres sounds like a lot, but only 35 is currently usable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a slice of heaven here in Oklahoma, you can see the milky way overhead at night and it’s nice and quiet. Hopefully all three kids will be graduated out of high school in 5 years and we will sell the house we live in on the 5 acres and move out there. It will be nice to not have a mortgage (the farm is paid off) and get the equity out of the 5 acres. We are blessed for sure! I feel like I know you a little bit from watching your videos, so I thought I would share a little bit about me. Thanks for your time and the inspiration your videos provide.

Good video-thanks. My tiller is 60 inches. just about right for tilling the rear tire width. I don't till enough to warrant the extra $ but have to agree with your methods and logic. I bet you have a mid PTO on your 2038r.? My KIOTI does not have the mid PTO so I can't disengage the rear PTO shaft to freely spin. It has and internal brake that holds the shaft when the electronic PTO switch is turned off. I can only index the splines of the PTO shaft and the tractor by turning the implement shaft. In order to do that the implement must be off the ground - otherwise it's pretty tough or impossible to twist the shaft. My previous tractor, NH TC33D, worked just like your tractor. I do miss being able to spin the tractor shaft to match up the splines rather than turning the rotary mower blades or the tiller shaft to hook it up.🤠👍

Hello Prow. I do have a mid mount mower connection, thanks for that information, I never put that togther. I'd miss the ability to move the PTO shaft too if I didn't have that feature. I'll be sure and pass that along in the next tiller video. Take care, stay in touch. - Bill

Good evening Diane. Yes we’re getting close very slowly but everyone is busy with summer plans, so I hope our goals are accomplished by the end of this year😄 I will do a video taking the backhoe off, I agree can be intimidating and the way I take it off is somewhat different than the instructions. This next video is going to be about pulling dead trees out of my pond after they fell over because they were dead. Dam ash bores. I’ll do my best to put the backhoe removal after this next video. Glad to hear you got your lawn in, keep me posted how it’s going and you take care of yourself.-Bill

Very good demonstration and video Bill. I noticed you can spin the PTO by hand on your 2038 R. My 3025 E this can't be done. Whenever I hook up any implements I have to spin the driveshaft to line up the splines on the PTO. This is very frustrating. Especially when hooking up my rear sickle bar mower. Your tractor handled the 74" tiller with all ease. Great idea on the roller stand for storing your tiller. Hope you had a great Independence Day.

Happy Independence Day, BWB3436. That trailer is 18 feet and works pretty well for me because my driveway has 180° turn and that’s the longest I can get up my driveway.
