My Dad luved his John Deere riding lawn mower. Took many pictures with him on it & he’d ride the Grand-Children around. He had an acre & a half to maintain with a nice big red barn on the property. He thought in the long run that was cheaper than hiring someone but with his Italian mindset, he would have found fault with what they did anyway, lol. He enjoyed the outdoors & didn’t mind. He also had a huge garden & beautiful fruit trees. My beautiful Pa passed away at age 96 right before Thanksgiving. I’ll always cherish & fondly remember the days on the farm as he called it. My Son was even baptized inside the big red barn & we had a nice party on the grounds afterwards.

Hey, Steve, you need one of them. Ultrasonic cleaners that would clean them carburetors up like brand new.

I do my head gaskets and prep them by taping some sand paper to a sheet of glass, for a perfect flat surface and then work the head covers back and forth over that to sand it all flat and smooth. Paint them first, not heavy but covered and as you test sand it, it will show you the high and low spots. Then sand them until all the paint is gone and you’ll have perfectly flat faces to match up to the new seal. You could use this same process on those manifolds.

What size drill bit did you use to drill out the holes for the new stainless steel screws?

I guess for a John Deere the nilock nuts will hold up fine. On a modern engine in a modern car where the manifold may be close to the exhaust I would be afraid that heat destroys the nilock nuts and they eventually turn loose.

It's like that Spider Man movie 2002... "Back to formula....?" That was the Green Goblin. I've seen GREEN gasoline! Pumps me up to fix my Gibson/Gillson (Montgomery Wards Rotor tiller) when it gets warm to use pole barn. ha. You and Taryl Fixes all! In the mean time, lots of fun to watch! And encouraging!

So the needle valve you replaced didn’t cure the surging? Love the follow up on the manifold leak. It Makes sense, it’s causing the intake to starve. Awesome info, thank you Steve 👍🏼

I'm pretty sure the cast iron manifolds on older CCK's and NH's fit.

Steve do you run ethanol free gas in your small engine equipment? I’ve started separating the ethanol out of my fuel here in Mass bc no one has it and it’s like ridiculously priced. It’s so easy to do. I’m done with that crap screwing up my snowblower and tractor. I use a 5 gallon Carboy to do it in batches!

i am not sure how to remove it ??

I’ll never run that crap anymore

Dad bought a Bolens riding lawn mower used with a 2 cylinder Onan engine several years ago. The Guy that He bought it from had Cancer and He got a Diesel Kabota Riding Lawn Mower, but He is Dead now. I don't know what happened to the Kabota riding lawn mower.

Rivets on it to purposely make you buy the whole new overpriced thing, deere is the worst.
@davidparker96766 ай бұрын
Just a cheap die cast manifold with rivets to save a few pennies by not using bolts or a one-piece cast manifold. It is made by Onan, John Deere bought the engine from Onan.

One things sure! This guy knows a lot about John Deere small tractor engines.

Why so many tractor videos??, don't really care for them, because I can't relate, Love your other videos though!!
@revrotunda32065 ай бұрын
Just because you don’t care for them doesn’t mean others aren’t interested. So don’t watch them & only watch the videos you love instead of asking a dumb question!
