4440 is one of my favorite type of tractors John Deere don't make anything like it anymore all the stuff now is cheap plastic and it breaks extremely easy

Mr. Hai, Hope no one was seriously hurt in the wreck. That truck must have been moving to do that much damage to the tractor. You all did a great job cleaning it up. Stay safe out there.

I worked many years as a mechanic at John Deere, Ford New Holland, and Agco Allis dealerships. We often had to drag tractors in the shop that were dead in the water. When I needed to straighten up the front tires, I would stick a bar in-between the front tire and that drop axle and pry it around. If you ever get into a manual four wheel drive, or a front wheel assist tractor you can disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the steering cylinders. It will shoot oil everywhere, but at least you can turn the tires. I can tell you have a lot of experience and know what you're doing so I'm probably telling you things you already know. I just wanted to share some things I've learned along the way that might help you incase you didn't already know. Please stay safe and have a blessed day.

Sad ending to a good tractor. I've ran the neighbors 42 year old 4440 for the last 12 years or so, chasing the combine with a grain cart. It has almost 10,000 hours on it, and the engine and drive train haven't had a wrench put to them. Just starting to notice a bit of blow-by. It's first 20 + years, it was the main tillage tractor for the neighbors Uncle.

I loved hearing my favorite southern accent. They r more enjoyable than the guys in Canada. Way to go guys

Wrecks like this irritate the fire out of me. Living within miles of several soybean, corn, cotton and peanut farms near Jay, Florida (due north of Milton) our farmers literally take their lives in their own hands having to be on the only connecting hwy two lane between Milton and Brewton AL. It's aaim thru way for folks leaving I65 coming south to avoid going to Mobil AL the east across 10. And vice versa. It's senseless to have these type of wrecks. Farmers have it bad enough without some jackleg being in a hurry or not paying attention.. Simple, hard working country folk just trying to make a living and this happens. Hopefully he has a back up tractor or has some very good neighbors with tractors to help him harvest or plant. Good recovery guys.

Back in 2006 I was driving a 4440 with duals down a narrow town road, a 16 year kid went off the shoulder to his right yanked the wheel came across the yellow line. My left dual drove up the left fender all the way down his left side of his white van eye level, I smashed my face into the corner post fell to the right rear corner of the cab where I had a valve control bank for a shit pump. One lever didn't have the plastic tip on it it stabbed me in the rib cage, I pulled the throttle back just as we made contact. I kept the tractor in the road, put it park got out as the kid was trying to leave. He pulled down 50' of fence spinning his tires, as I reached in to shut his van off he tried to run me over. I introduced his face to my elbow as I shut his rig off. He never apologized, sat there crying to his mother and cop that I hit him in the face. The cop said your lucky that's all he did! You tried to run him over!

That's crazy. Has to be a difficult job with something different to deal with every time. I have a GMC Sierra same color 2016 just hit a deer early the other morning. $6000 in damage but a drop in the bucket compared to what happened here. Shame what happened to the Deere. They are totally better than anything new today. I think back in the 70s John Deere came out with that cab. I think it was called the sound guard cab or something but just as it was built to do it saved the farmers life. Thanks for the video 👍

I Love Watching Your Videos & The Variety Of Recoveries You Do

Seems like a short time ago ya'll were moving a tractor that a Hummer had hit. Them tractors ain't small, so I'm having a hard time understanding how this happens. I guess folks just won't slow down and they won't stop fooling with them cell phones while they're moving along at such a pace. I heard of a case around Bamberg a few years back where the driver of a small tractor was killed by a guy on his cell phone - and the tractor wasn't even on the road - he was driving on the shoulder. The car left the road and hit the tractor because the car driver wasn't watching the road and staying on it!

This happened too a friend of ours last year; another case of someone having their head stuck to their phone screen instead of on the road. 🤬🤬🤬

The tractor can be fixed. This same thing happened to my JD 2010 several years ago. Replaced the left axle and housing along with the bull gear. 30 years later and she’s still alive (kinda… broke the reverse syncs so she’s under the knife, then off to work at the race shop for retirement)

You make such a production out of a simple job. A log of excess in the rigging and getting the job done

Well, depending on the insurance situation, that tractor can be repaired. Go to one of these big equipment salvage yards and source up another final drive housing and gear, buy a complete used cab and you're not too far off. Not cheap, but those 4440 Deeres are in huge demand and bring almost what they sold for new, and this one was a power shift as well. Still a bargain compared to paying over 6 figures for a new one of similar size. Heck, the newer Deeres with high hours still bring way over 6 figures. Most of those 40 and 50 series tractors are easily capable of many thousands of hours of service, and very easily rebuilt if problems come up. Their more compatibile with most family sized farms and still affordable, not so much with the new paint from Deere.

How can some one not see a slow-moving John Deere 4440 in broad daylight. BTW those are great tractor they also way shy of 15k more like 12k depending on configuration and if it has front weights or weighted tires. I guess nothing runs like a Deere until it's hit by a GMC

4440 best tractor John deer made, probably 45 years old

Destroyed that tractor. Same thing happend to a friend of mine he was driving a Massey 235 someone plowed into him as well busted the rearend. He was able to get it repaired. People not paying attention or in a hurry can get someone killed easily enough. Nice job on the recovery.

It appears to me that the pickup truck driver wasn't paying attention to the highway in front of him or he wouldn't have run into that farm tractor! What a dirty rotten shame!

That tractor may be more repairable than what it looks, obviously being smaller the pickup got the worst end of the deal but maybe not by much

wow is that like the 3rd one this year.... is that a high number for your area of farm tractors getting hit? I know the last one was wrecked on the farm but there were a couple others on the road.... just curious.... folks need to pay attention when driving so as not to hit tractors.....combines and sprayers.... those drivers do not have as much protection as it appears.
