I have owned the JD5065E and now own the Kubota for about 1 1/2 years. I have 3 wheel weights on each rear wheel and liquid in them. It is much more user friendly than the JD. I'm 78 years old and I've owned and operated tractors for many years. Years ago JD were better built than they are today. Kubota is about like owning a Honda or Toyota, you don't have down time like the JD. I put about 500 hours a year on the tractor. I've bought 3 new JDs and 2 of them had major problems .No more JDs for me.

I love how he tries to turn positives from the Kubota to a negative- “the battery is the first thing you see under the hood of the Kubota with nothing over it, but John Deere’s is under a bunch of stuff and is harder to get out..... but it’s better.” “The skid steer attachments are great, but you risk being stupid and picking up attachments that are too big.” This is a pretty biased “comparison” and makes me want to get a Kubota even more, just because of this guys horrible comparison technique.....

Watching this a year later, but what struck me the most is the fact he was going on about keeping things away from damage: steering, tool box, etc. but the hydraulic system for the loader was just “convenient” on the Deere. I much prefer protected than convenient. Also the battery box...on Kubota, it comes with a standard door latch and steps to ease entry into the tractor. Won’t work with that battery box on the Deere. He didn’t mention that at all. However, I’m sure, the trade in value will make up for it in the end game...like ranchers don’t keep their tractors for very long (maybe they get rid of Deere more often).

@@WesternEquipment just “don’t be biased”… that’s all.. you don’t need to watch a video.. you have to remove yourself.. point out the good of each and the disliked of each, equally. It’s not hard. That way the consumer can make up their own mind. I personally steer away from biased reviews of anything… it just turns me off. Other than that, (which is in response to your comment), I appreciate the time on the review. I went with Kabota over Deere, tractor to tractor, but had a Deere before the switch, and they are both great units.

And as big of a Deere fan as I am, the number one pet peeve I have with Deere is that they need to do away with their JD quick attach loader attachments and go ahead and standardize to SSQA like everyone else has. I know it’s optional on a Deere but it needs to be standard, it’s 2018! That is just Deere’s need to feel exclusive.

John Deere definitely seems more user friendly and ergonomic. The big neat thing about the Kubota is the ability to use skid steer attachments. I would love to be able to run a small forestry mulcher from a front end loader and not have to buy a CTL. As far as battery placement, I don't think I really like either. On the Kubota it will be blocking air flow to the radiator, but on the John Deere it is hanging down and could catch on a log or something if you're being careless. The metal box it is in seems sturdy but you're still losing some ground clearance.
@WesternEquipment

Great points! You can buy an adapter to make any loader into the skid steer style hookup. They can be a little pricey, but they will give your tractor that versatility you're looking for!
@timtwing5886
@timtwing5886 2 жыл бұрын
Well idk what kind of tractor you have but I will tell you most skid steer attachments are not meant for compact tractors especially the smaller compacts. These two tractors could support a lot of skid steer attachments because they have high loader capacity but attachments that are made for skid steers require a high hydraulic flow(GPM) to operate up to efficiency. A lot of people think they can just take any attachment that was made for a skid steer(grapples, hammer drills, tillers, duster, ect) and just put them on the front of their compact tractors. Just because it fits doesn't mean it belongs and most of the time it doesn't.

I have a John Deere 5320 cab 64 hp pretty much the same tractor as what is shown here a 5065E and the battery is in the same place. On my 5320 you have to take the step off before getting to the battery same setup. A person would be wise to cut out a peace of rubber to fit on top of the battery so the battery will not short out because the battery terminals can hit the top of the casing that the battery sets in if the tractor bounces by going over rough ground or a ditch.

I have owned many Tractors and, I happen to own the M7060. The M7060 is a little lite in the rear-end but not enough to worry about because it weighs in with solid steel. The JD casing has whats called Pot Metal casing very good also. I think you need to be fair about the radiator. Tell the viewers how it slides out for easy cleaning as to where The John Deere does not. The M7060 Kubota is a all around tough Tractor. The Deere is nice it's over priced But, JD has a good resale market. I would say Kubota is John Deere's biggest competitor. People buying Tractors to get the work done should shop around there are other colors besides green. Great video...

This is the first review that sounds like a CNN report. Also I think there's a spot in the Kubota cab that could harbor rattlesnakes where the JD has a place for a mongoose to live comfortably. I was shocked I didn't here that comparison. So, I like that on the JD they have tattooed how to start instructions on the key so they never forget! Not fair to discriminate against people who need daily instructions. "Outside hydraulic front couplers -- easily grabbed from the outside." yeah by a tree. I'm sorry, I shouldn't be critical, but this was funny!!! I think they are trying to impeach the Kubota, but noticed they did paint the foot throttle Kubota orange.

Had a Deere to work my orchard on 40 acres in Nevada. The sun out here would make most plastics look like you put a torch on it. The hood Did fade over the years, but never got brittle. I put some serious gouges into it from branches etc. The tool boxes and covers did get brittle though and cracked out. But it was nice that as he said, its the same color all the way through. 'shrugs' Yeah, its a gimmick. But I can see why they did it. Plus it was nice not having the hood be scorching hot from the sun. My next tractor will be something other than a Deere due to how they Love making everything proprietary or not user serviceable. But the plastic hood, in my opinion was a good idea.

Kubota is made same place they always have. John Deere isn't made in Illinois/Iowa like they were when I owned them. I now own a Kubota, just don't need the dealership hassle that JD seems to have gravitated to. The computers run so much of everything, and JD will not allow anyone else to work on them. I don't farm anymore, just rent out the land. After listening to the comments that I get from the people doing the farming is that the big tractor companies are really having a showdown over pirate software allowing end users to access their equipment computers and 'cheat the dealers' out of their monopoly. Combines were the worst complaint I heard. They have so many sensors all over them and if a wire breaks, comes unplugged or a sensor just fails, dealer has to come out and run diagnostics and then replace the part. $$$$$ Also the maintenance is such a time consuming thing that it upsets harvest times. The days of farming have changed drastically as have the farmers. Hang in there, people. Ex SD farmer Michael in Colorado.

Is JD getting scared that kubota is finally making a tractor that can compete with them. I own both and both great tractors I own m7060 and a JD 5303 and I'll us the kubota any day over the he JD.

My take is most manufacturers make solid well built tractors that can do an honest days work. But however what I think most people overlook is the dealer support; it's more important to have a dealer that can support you then it is a tractor that looks better on paper or has more weight ect. Number one every tractor is going to be ballasted anyway unless you're literally only using it for light duty tasks such as bush hogging a field where that has relatively even terrain and doesn't need all the extra traction. Number two when the tractor does break and all of them do, will your dealer be there to help you; how good is their customer support? For me personally whether that tractor is green, orange, blue, red or other I'm gonna go with the one who has the best dealer support long after the sale and which one I don't have to drive over an hour one way to get parts and service for

Capacities of loaders? Three point lift capacities? Fuel efficiency? Maybe explain the fact that the E series is Deere's "economy" version of the better tractors they build so they can be competitive. If he wasn't wearing that shirt, I'd have to challenge his tractor comparison skills. There really are no stand-out leaders in this sized tractor market. @WesternEquipment

Here is something else to consider, Kubota does not send the 7060 for testing at the Nebraska Tractor Data Tests, so in all honesty we do not have a way of showing their rate of loss, otherthan taking their word for it. Where as John Deere does send their 5065E, and results can be found on the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory website. The true test and way to know would be to put both tractors, side by side, in the field doing the same task and then compare performance. You say I am biased, which may be true, but let's also not hide the fact that Kubota may or may not be telling the whole truth. Just food for thought.

Will it’s pretty obvious that he is bias toward John Deere. I think the Kubota and John Deere are the 2 best for higher resale value. I am not bias between the two. They each have there pros and cons. So in the end I think there pretty equal. I like the John Deere 3 point hitch because it lifts higher than the Kubota. I hate the John Deere loader as it is way too far in front of the front tires. In the bush, it’s in the way and makes the ass end of tractor lift off the ground much easier during heavy loader work. But yeah it lifts higher. Still I’m voting for Kubota on the loader. Quick loader connect is easy access on the John Deere but looks better and tucked in on the Kubota. Also less chance to catch on a tree with the Kubota. The Kubota offers wider front tires than the John Deere. I like that the John Deere is heavier than Kubota. More traction to skid large trees. The Kubota offers cast Iron rear rims for extra weight. I don’t think the John Deere E Series offers the cast Iron rims. I much prefer the location of the battery on the Kubota. And the serial number location, like seriously!! Kubota has the 4 cylinder engine and is less noisy and less vibration that the 3 cylinder John Deere. Not sure which tractor exhaust location I like best. The Cab on the Kubota wins. See how the gears, throttle and everything else is much more at reach. And for the vents, personally I prefer them shooting on my legs and lower body than on top of my head drying out my eyes. And it’s very important for the foot throttle to be colour coded… seriously !! Oh yeah also very important to have decal on your loader arm. You never know you might get dementia and forget what the functions are. The John Deere has the planetary gears on the front wheels. I think that is better than the Kubota but not 100% sure. So in those two specific tractors I would chose the Kubota. If I would buy a tractor with over 100 hp then I think I would go with the John Deere.

I always prefer the heavier tractors it does better when pulling . I am looking at the 4700 series Massey Ferguson because they in at about 10,400 lbs tractor cab and loader you can get the Massey Ferguson 4700 series in a 70 hp in 4707; 80 hp in the 4708; 90 hp in the 4709; and 100 hp in the 4710 . I drove tractors all my life it is good to have that extra weight for plowing, moving round bales of hay; and pulling a baler going down a steep hill. A baler almost full of hay can push a lighter tractor down the hill where as the heavy tractor it won't.

The skid steer attach system is a relatively weak system that does not stand up well to utility tractors and should never be used on them. They're simply not strong enough for this sized tractor.

Matt Lee yeah, the bobcat t300 that I use daily with an 84" bucket/pallet for stone is "too weak" for a bale spear tractor. Get off your keyboard a do some real work you daisy. Crummy Indian made garbage could barely pick up a 36" pine log bucked to 7'. That 'weak' skid steer coupler is used everywhere because it's a tested and proven design.

I like the global style only one lever to release and latches on its own when you curl it back what's not to like

Western Equipment leaking oil between the engine and transmission lines not tight from India leaking radiator lines A/c not cooling lights not working turn lights not working a/c lines running up the cab posts not secure rattling when you outsource everything the quality control goes to hell as people are finding out the hard way I have older deers that are awesome but will never buy another one until Deere wakes up and brings made in USA back instead of just some green paint sand stickers
