We did this with my brothers 4250 this last weekend after doing an engine and hydraulic system filter change. He's definitely noticed the change in torque in the lower rpm range when pulling a full spreader of pre+ emerge fertilizer on his corn feild before tillage this season. Hes happy an got this information form your videos. Keep up the great work you do. So informative for those that have limited information on subjects like this. 👍👍

I have a 4630 with a front end loader attachment, due to the inherit low revs problem when the turbo hasn't spun up it was gutless to push anything. Your vid made a huge difference. I could even hear the difference when it idles. Much appreciated

@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 4 жыл бұрын
@@jeremyheitzig599 did you get the little screw flush or slightly lower then the jam nut? you hit the hand throttle forward you just pull against some Springs in the governor. Same thing if the engine gets lugged down it pulls again some Springs in the governor. All this is doing is allowing the injection pump to respond more quickly to changes You haven't changed the horsepower screw so it shouldn't turn it into a black smoker. A 50 Series might smoke a whole lot more because of the torque capsule inside the pump. But in the 30 series they only have like a 5% torque rise capsule. So my 8450 smokes like a pulling tractor when you touch the throttle but the 4430 doesn't smoke much. But compared to where they were to where they are now they are like a CAT engine in the tractor

@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 3 жыл бұрын
The screw looks different but you would think it to be the same theory of operation. 50 series had a different torque curve, very much improved over the older series with the 15 speed tranny and using that to stay in operating rpms range you might not notice much?

Think this adjustment would work and a New Holland 8770? Our has a serious bottom end issue and when working tough ground, has real issue with near stalls. If the RPM drops below 1650, it's basically gutless.
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 3 жыл бұрын
If it has a set up like this on an inline pump you would like to think that it would help. But it does not change the peak horsepower. A pump shop can also change other things in there to give it a little more torque rise
@Vicsonvee
@Vicsonvee 3 жыл бұрын
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 It looks to have the exact same pump and aneroid setup on it. It has lots of top end power, but it's always a real dog speeding up to 1750- 2100 RPM and if you are trying to run at 1800 RPM and you hit a tough spot, that bogs you to ~1650, it pretty much dies. Sounds like what you described in your video. I hope this will be a simple solution to my problem .

I don't but its not hard. on the back of the pump by the oil filter housing is a square cap with 4 bolts holding it on. remove that cap then you will see a little thread and a jam nut. the jam nut is 10 mm. turn in for more power. a half turn or full turn is a good bump in power.

Then when i was trying to figure it out i started taping the right and left brake pedels and it would kit it out to the point that the pto lever will not stay up unless i hold it. The first thing I would check is the transmission pressure.. If you don't have a gauge set up, you can take a quarter inch lock washer.Put it in the vice and bend it flat so there is no more offset or lock to it. Behind the left battery box you'll see the valve housing and one nut at the bottom will be taller.
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 4 ай бұрын
That is your pressure regulating valve. When you take that down a Spring and valve might follow. Keep cap upright so you do not lose the shims that are in there. With the added washer see if your p t o now stays on

we have two 4640s. me and a buddy overhauled one in spring. the one we overhauled has a bit less power than the other one. if you had a leak in the aneroid line would you need to bother replacing it after doing the aneroid adjustment. Does this adjustment increase fuel usage under no load conditions. I don't see why it would but would it.
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 2 жыл бұрын
If you had a leak we could say you are technically loosing some boost pressure, if it's a tiny leak can't see how it would effect power. Fuel usage would be dependent upon load and how its driven. Will use more fuel under acceleration, or responding to a change in load. Under same loads should use same same fuel you would imagine. Did tractors have equal power before?
@carsonharn9246

@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 one has been on this farm for about 15 years. it always had very good power. The other one was purchest recently and was gutless and pouring smoke so we got pump/injectors done and new turbo. Issue was still there. so we decided to do an overhaul and during disassembly we discovered all boost press was bieng lost through crack in intake manifold. After overhaul it has way more power and less smoke. but there other one can pull a bit harder. Normally we dont like to put our tractors under max load but we were ripping up sod and the tractors had to pull hard as they could. I adjusted the aneroid in the overhauled one. The power difference is probably just in the pump i don't think ill bother turning the hp up. I dont think there is a leak on aneroid line I dont hear a whistle. But I do have thread adapters on the line due to having the wrong elbow on new intake manifold. it could possibly seep by

This would help the mid range and bottom end power. For peak hp you take off the little plate with 4 bolts on the back of the pump. Some tractors you have to remove oil filter housing. There is a jam nut and screw, give it a half turn in. Honestly the 8650 had a good balance of power to weight. Everyone wants more power but its a good machine as is. The aneroid will help some

Is adjusting the aneroid hard on the engine, I adjust it on my 4440 and was impressed on the results, but now after about a year it all of a sudden started having excessive blow by. I'm suspecting I have a busted compression ring
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754
@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 3 жыл бұрын
In normal situations no but if a person now decided they don't need to downshift they can just let the tractor lug and pulled it like that all day long then yeah you could see excessive wear I had a few customers when I was out in central Minnesota we would not turn the Peak horsepower screw up. Because they were the type that if you gave them 25 more horsepower they would grab another gear and the tractor would still be hanging its tongue out Very noticeably harder starting? All of a sudden you have excessive blow-by like you were driving and then holy cow where did all that come from or you are driving it one day and you thought I don't remember the tractor having that much blow-by before More likely something happened because the tractor has how many thousand hours. It's just naturally at that wear point, or an injector could be bad causing damage to the piston, highly unlikely but a ring could have broke.

A 15/16 12 point deep well or a box end wrench should loosen that retaining nut.have never really seen any froze in the head so with that nut loose they usually come out. the dealer has a special tool for tightening the nut because you need to hold the injector at a specific spot. Oh boy if I remember right you got to take that top little cover off where your return fuel line comes out of. You might close the fuel above the front axle in front of the front axle shut the fuel off if your tank is full so you're not just pushing fuel through but I believe with the top cover off you can roll the engine over and you'll see a little tiny Allen screw up here if you turn that screw in you increase the horsepower. It's a small Allen screw something like a 5/32? I thought like a half a turn was about 10 horsepower.
