Yep, it makes you wonder if you actually have "purchased" the machine... Not just parts being proprietary, but the other issue is having the software/tractor locked for replacing one little sensor. John Deere gets most of the flak because it has the best examples. CNH i think is a little more lenient as far as I know, and AGCO a bit but they are also still should be accounted in the R2R along with the whole tech industry, like Apple... big reason why I have never purchased an Apple product and never will with all the proprietary, overpriced tech.
@delbutler885

Justin Whitley it's evident that you haven't been around Agco computerized equipment. None of the independent mechanics can get into them. As far as parts go I'll keep going to JD. At least they can get the parts. And yes I spend my share at JD, Agco and Cat.

I remember one trip I was on I was following some old JD tractors and one of em croaked halfway up a steep hill. I ended up having to tow him with my semi because the other tractor barely could pull himself up the hill.. they said usually the bigger tractor (that broke down) would tow the smaller one up that hill.. so I ended up backing BACK down (with a trailerload of hay) and towing the smaller one as well!!

I'm an AC guy but not paticular about any brand but the reason deere is #1 today is when they came out with the 4010/4020 sereis they were the first modern tractors. Planetaty final drives, closed center hydraulics, wet brakes. No comparison to a D sereis allis or farmall. The rotary combine concept was worked on by deere before anybody but they stuck with the conventional because of ease of switching between varieties of different crops and smaller farms at the time. I would say now all the manufacturers make junk but the government regs have a lot to do with that.

Lord above that is some big sky country. I used to work at a company that sold manure spreaders to John Deere to rebrand. Not fun people to work with.

This comment cracks me up lol agco had to buy precision planting to try and catch up. Case had to buy Steiger to build tractors lol without Deere there is no gps guidance or any other precision farming lol but yeah Deere buying innovation for decades lol funny also Deere innovation pushed everyone else out of the cotton picker market lol people kill me

@@chadjustice8560 Buzz Vardeman in Texas invented a lot of Deere’s improvement. Roundbale cotton picker, tractor GPS, and many others. Deere engineers go to him so they can learn how to improve their products.

@@chadjustice8560 Steiger was 1/3 owned by IHC from about 1972, IHC's money built the Steiger plant in Fargo, with the 1/3 and the contract. Tenneco bought IHC's ag division and the 1/3 ownership in Steiger came with. Tenneco being a rich oil and gas company during the 1980s oil booms, bought the rest to merge into their other ag company, JI Case, which they were...tired of is a way to put it. IHC's Ag division with the Magnum and Axial Flow combine+The Stieger Tractor Company with decent 4x4 tractors+J I Case with the Maxxum= J I Case, Dba, Case IH, a few years later, a Merger with the Ford Motor Company's New Holland and Versatile= CNH, minus Versatile due to Anti Trust concerns. A few years later, they became CNHI a global conglomerate under FIAT, which "is for sale, with the right offer" which AGCO's CEO has lowballed a few times. Deere tired to buy Precision Planting before AGCO. PP said no to Deere and offered themselves to AGCO. Now there's lawsuits with questionable motivation between the two. IF PP was infringing, why did Deere wait for AGCO to quire them before opening the lawsuit?

It’s funny watching the John Deere guys get their panties in a bunch...by the way, in order to perfect an idea you still need the original idea which is copying no matter what colour your panties are.
