Yes it is great to compare different methods, we don't drive lorries beside harvester they just stay on the headlands.sugar production is big business in this part of the country and has some bloody huge machinery

Great video! I wish we could have seen some wheat harvest too when we were on vacation in England but we were too late for that. However, we did get to see a lot of sugar beet harvesting and also the beet factory in Bury St. Edmunds. Is fun to compare farming methods in England versus the States.

As an ex-farmer, my limited experience was that with these large capacity machines, you need to keep the threshing mechanism at or as near as full capacity as possible. Forward speed is usually governed by how heavy a crop you are harvesting, moisture content and the condition of the straw. I'm not up to speed on all of the driver electronics in the cab these days but most of the factors are governed by the on-board electronics. Hope this is helpful.

The new S series John Deere combines are becoming quite popular in the States too. However, most farmers there are using the draper heads as they feed much more evenly on the wider models (35 and 40 foot John Deere heads-45 foot MacDon which is made in Canada).

Is it mostly winter wheat that is grown in England? How about the barley? We noted that quite a bit of planting had already been done. One winter crop that was already up appeared to be rapeseed.

that combine harvester is going great guns a very high capacity machine he could probably go even faster if he wanted too and even have the header a bit wider as well that machine is well able for that nice dry crop and the sun shining as well the on board computer sorts most of the stuff out no way was he going to fast at all im an ex farm tractor/combine operator its all about horse power and threshing drum size mate
