This reaction perfectly encapsulates why his cancer diagnosis was so devastating to us, as a whole nation. This guys is the soundtrack to several generations. His voice is a national treasure, and I feel so blessed to have grown up with it since the day I was born 🫶🏼

My reaction, too, everytime I play the youtube video of John's concert in Melbourne with not only his backing singers and band but also with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and with huge audience participation. Mitch tambo - aboriginal heritage, check him out. Also, look up Icehouse and their song Great Southern Land.

The indigenous guy was Mitch Tambo. He won Australia’s got talent with his indigenous version of You’re the Voice. John absolutely loved it. And this performance was only a few months before John was diagnosed with mouth cancer from smoking.

John and Olivia were great mates, have been since their 20's. He was devastated when she passed. I think John could still sell out a stadium even if all he did was read the phone book. He is a genuinely great human being.

I was in those fires and for 4 weeks it looked like nighttime. They still haunt me. Four times we got a text to evacuate, four times the roads out were cut and four times the wind changed when it was almost on top of us. Our only choice was the ocean if it kept coming and so many lost so much or their lives. John always came out for anyone that needed help. He always brought many others with him and Livvie usually came home too. Did you think at 70 he would sound different? He is our Legend for a good reason, a few but his voice and his heart are the top two probably followed by kindness. Thank you. ❤

No matter what age, John is epic. With all the belting and endless vocal range I always wondered how John didn’t blow his voice out and as we can hear he’s still got it. John is a one of a kind, always pitch perfect, even in live performances, where you only have one take, no auto tune, no tricks, it’s just John and his magnificent voice.

I saw John live in 2019 and he was INCREDIBLE!! A Set of 8 songs as the closing act of the Red Hot summer tour. No banter, just let the music speak. Beyond flawless and with his trusted old band backup singers. So tight and such beautiful energy. He had already been sick and lost a lot of weight, but oh my god!! I had waited many years to finally see him live and was very thankful for the experience. Apparently this was his best night of that tour. Shortly afterwards, lockdown and then the cancer...Cherry on top: I got to meet him backstage! So precious. By the way, what about Tom Jones as a singer who kept his incredible voice into old age?! Jones

Queen with Adam Lambert was there preforming their exact same set at what they did at Live Aid (hadn’t done it again before this concert) and as always John was the last act in front of 75,000 people in Sydney!! Lucky it happened then because two months later the “thing” happened and there were lockdowns all over the world! 😢

He chose "You're the voice" to audition with and floored the judges and the crowd with his arrangement. It went viral and John saw it. All the fire fighters in yellow are volunteers (rural firefighters) in (I think) all states of Australia and a large percentage are volunteers. A portion of most of our emergency services have a volunteer aspect.

Mate, I was there, and this was amazing. His whole set was legendary. It sounded exactly like the recordings. This was the conclusion of the night and we were READY for it. I did the double-header of Queen+Adam Lambert on the Saturday night and Fire Fight on Sunday. I was exhausted afterwards and had no voice for a week, but it was completely magical. It feels so surreal that only a couple of weeks later we were all locking down...
