Jimmy Barnes is another great Australian artist, formerly a member of Cold Chisel; his performance of When Something is Wrong With My Baby from his Soul Deep concert with John Farnham and Johnny Diesel(Jimmy's brother-in-law) is stellar.

John singing Burn for you is an emotional experience you need to watch, he wrote this song for his wife while touring. His love for his wife is enduring still till this day. ❤

Hi, this was the second or third encore of the concert from 1989 when John was 40, everything he does live is amazing, try Bridge Over Troubled Waters from his appearance on the Don Lane show of 1979, you have entered a massive rabbit hole, John's first hit was in 1967, enjoy.

For the recorded concert it was only his first encore. His second that night was Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top. John did like to mix things up between nights.

This was an encore after a two hour plus concert! A contrasting performance by JF, is a song he wrote for his wife, Burn For You. An acoustic version accompanied by Lindsey Fields on guitar is easily found. It is beautifully restrained. For something raw and deeply satisfying try When Something Is Wrong With My Baby, sung with Jimmy Barnes, with John Diesel on guitar.

I recommend any of his live songs. Never gives less than 100%. Look for Amazing Grace with his backing singer Vanetta Field. Truly Beautiful. And that's after a 2 hour concert.

If i remember right, this was after a couple hours on stage, might be the second encore. To say his voice was warmed up is kinda an understatement. Always awesome to see and hear reactions from voice specialists. You know how he sings like this. Us Aussies just know he does, It dosnt matter how . its normal times lol. Whispering Jack. 3rd last song that particular night. There was another encore after Help where he came back on to sing Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top. That high energy AC-DC classic was the real last song that night.

Welcome to “farnsey” as we call him here in aussieland. He can be a major rabbit hole to fall into. One you will love. Next from the same concert listen to “you’re the voice”, if you want to really see his abilities try “gethsemaine” from Jesus Christ superstar. You can hear him with Olivia Newton John, Tom Jones, you name a star and he’s sung with them. Another rabbit hole is him singing with another Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes (barnsey).

You mentioned Tom Jones … he is a fan of our John and they have performed together across the years. Check out Tom and John singing My Yiddish Mother acapella on a local Australian variety program. John is a phenomenal singer who has been performing like this for over 50 years. The man can saaang!

The TV show mentioned above was Hey Hey it's Saturday. It was on TV here in Australia for over 20 years. Tom Jones & John were separate guest singers on the same night. Tom Jones was being interviewed by Daryl Somers (host)when he asked John Farnham to sing with him, hence the joint acapella of Mama. Legendary moment in time! ❤️

Great reaction, mate! I think this is my favourite performance of John's. Lots of recommendations here in the comments from Gethsemane to Blackdog. Always listen to John live as the audience brings out the best in him. Anything from this concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is amazing. Also for something soulful try When something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel, another Aussie rock legend.

I agree 100% to all the other comments here. I would suggest another performance by John Farnham was when he played Jesus in the concert arena version of Jesus Christ Superstar. This version of the show has THE best orchestration of any version ever performed before or since, but John Farnham is amazing. He brings that same gift for interpreting music, and for performing to the crowd to that performance that he does to all his live performances, and it is so good hearing that role performed by a true rock tenor, rather than musical theatre tenors singing in the rock genre which is how the role is normally performed.

To grasp his full scope 1 Bridge over troubled waters - 1979 live. John being younger 2 Angles 2000 live 3. Black Dog 4. When the War is over 2005 live I think it is so he is a bit older but his voice has never really changed over the years

Fun fact: radio stations refuse to play his music as he wasn't considered main stream. It wasn't until he released the "whispering jack" album that his career took off.

It's interesting that you mentioned Tom Jones. John Farnham met Tom Jones on an Australian TV show and got to sing with him, briefly. John l think was a little star struck meeting him. It's on KZfaq.
