What an excellent presentation. I am a Vietnam Vet. and spent 90% of my 15 months in country under combat conditions. Nothing that I experienced could compare to what Mr. Fer went thru. This man is a true hero every sense of the word. Thank you Mr. Fer and JOB WELL DONE.

John Fer was one of my elementary school principals, at St. Anne's in Sumter, SC. I would love the opportunity to meet him again after all these years. I became a Capt in the USAF and have always remembered him throughout my school and professional training.

Thank you Captain Fer. It's good to see him. I wore a POW bracelet bearing his name and prayed he would return home safely.

This is a great speech by Capt. Fer. I've read many books about Vietnam P.O.W.'s and I'm always amazed how they managed to follow the code and keep their morale up even through the darkest of times. What sticks out in my mind is where one POW said that the real heroes are the one's that never came home.

This is amazing. I clicked on this video to search for affirmation of the honor of John McCain's service which is evident in it but learned so much more about the wonderful network of communication and the mutual support of all the profoundly heroic men who bonded together in a deeply spiritual resistance within the American military code of honor. You all deserve our deepest possible respect. Thank you John Fer for a great account of the experiences of you and your fellow American Heros!

Robert Howard ... I’m not sure Mr. Robert. I heard some really sad commentaries about McCain... from those who served with him and who were imprisoned with him. I love my country and I owe everything to men like this. I can’t begin to imagine what they endured. I am not a coward. I do know this, but I don’t think I’d make much of a military person, especially under conditions like this, but I am a fighter for all that’s right and if I were asked, I would stand up against the enemy. When 9/11 happened, I would have gone in a heartbeat. However, I was a single mom raising 3 children. Oh, how I wanted to fight. I owe this man so very much. I owe him and all who came before him and those who still watch over me so much. It is because of courageous souls that I have been able to live my life free and tuck my children into bed at night. Did you serve, sir?

Thank you for your service. I know a few also never gave up on getting the Laos POWs out that the government wouldn't because it was secret mission

Great presentation. Thank you, Sir !!! I have read maybe 20 books by POW's held in North Vietnam. I love how he speaks of American exceptionalism, which is dead right now, in my view. Sadly. Anyone who studies the POW stories knows that the harsh treatment, which was very real, improved a fair amount during the later stages of the war. For many, at least.

Although I have never served myself, I however have a great deal of respect ✊ for those who do and have and I would like to say this that it is more interesting 🤔 listening 👂 to those who have served tell their stories of their experiences of how things we’re going going for them, weather they we’re captured or not and there experience as a prisoner of war. I find these people to be TRULY interesting 🤔 and I wish them all well and hope that in the future that more of the armed services would tell of their times good or bad, thanks 🙏 again for such an interesting 🤔 hour long talk.

John Fer was the name on my POW bracelet in the early 70's. So glad he made it home! Thinking of him again today as I am saddened by the death of John McCain, another true American hero. God bless to both of you.

I also had a POW bracelet with John Fer's name on it. I just found it today while cleaning out a box, and thought I'd look him up on Google. I echo the sentiment to both Mr. Fer and Mr. McCain. I thank them both for their service and commitment to our country.
