There are 4 versions of Evangeline on the EP / CD "European Splendour". 1. Evangeline - original, 2. Instrumental, 3. Radio edit. 4. Evangeline - David Lynch remix. Of the 4, the D. Lynch remix is in my opinion the best version. While the original Foxx version is very spacey, the Lynch has a hard edge to it. Even the video has been edited for a tighter feel. My interpretation is that some post - apocalyptic Europe and at the end Evangeline is dead. Some chemical pollution has ravaged the land.

Hard to be exactly sure with what I think is a phaser type of effect on the vocals.

By the way the CD / vinyl design was by "Barnbrook" who all so did the new Bowie CD. I urge you to take a look at the David Lynch remix and original and judge for yourself.

hey no offence ok - I always wished Foxx will get maximum exposure for such wonderful music - where I used to live we never had any Foxx releases anywhere and that was always the problem as he was never mainstream I guess (used to tune in to some Si Fi programme just to hear New Kind of Man played for the closing credits on an Italian TV station!!.. it was that bad LOL) I just didn't get the video and maybe was expecting something else for such a track.. but thanks for sharing.

Great music, inspiring as always by John Foxx - the film though, done by the 'iconic' Lych is absolute meaningless DRIVEL, like most of the things he's done. Foxx deserves much better than so called 'iconic' arty figures to showcase his great music to the general public. Sad thing is.. Lynch was actually paid to do this! SAD indeed!
