wow wow. don't have words for this. It's great to hear the pogues paid tribute to in such an original way. and fascinating that this song, though traditional, had never been recorded even by song collectors until Shane put it on wax - especially given the Pogues's traditional numbers tended to be fairly popular songs that had usually been recorded by the Dubliners, the Clancy brothers etc.

I suspect Shane may well have written it. Have never heard a version from before that early Pogues album

@@poorpaddy7803 "'Kitty' is my favourite track on the album," says Shane. "it's a song that I learnt from my mother and I've only ever met one person, who wasn't out of my family or from round our particular little area in Tipperary, who knows it."
