John Giem demonstrates Turning Offset Tool Handles to the Rocky Mountain Woodturners in January of 2019. He discusses sources of screw driver kits and the various alternatives to a round handle. He shows a technique for turning a 3 sided handle using an offset to produce a tri-ridged handle.

Interesting techniques for tool handles, HOWEVER, this should have been broken into 2 videos, part 1 & part 2,; the sound is terrible, and the camera work needs significant improvement.

Sorry that the sound is what it is. We work from a warehouse and suffer from it's acoustics. On the camera work it would be helpful if you could be more specific on what changes you would recommend (more zoom, less zoom, different angle, etc.)

Mark Hazlewood It seems that this wood turning club only has one guy with a video camera. Because all of their videos are of the same poor production quality. They get these great presenters and you missed half the information because of sound quality and the guy running the camera not paying attention. it would be very simple to fix this. Buy a simple wireless mic that the guy already has connected into the video camera so it would be recording right onto the video. And having a second camera suspended above, so that you could always see the work almost from the turners perspective And then placing both of those together in a video editing software and switching back-and-forth between the two. It really wouldn’t be that difficult. And having both of those videos being simultaneously shown on the big screen for the people who are in the back of the room, they can’t see what the guy is actually doing.

@@_jurist Yea, my club has the same problems, but we don't publish any of our videos. We just allocated $3000 to buy the AAW camera & lighting trestle to fix our issues.

Mark Hazlewood $3000 that is a lot all you need is a couple of go pro cameras. Or go pro similar cameras, mounted and connected to video monitors. You can control them all from your cell phone. And then one camera mounted back a little bit that shows the whole spiel. The two go pros, should be mounted closer to the work as possible, in an area they won’t get sprayed with shavings. And connected to the monitors so that all the people there observing can actually see what’s going on. And with about a half an hour prep time, and turning the lights down in the audience will really help and only have the lathe and the guy giving the demonstration lighted. This will allow the monitors to be seen better. Notice how the cameraman continues to zoom way in, and the camera he’s using doesn’t have the technical ability to focus at that great of zoom. But he continued to do it. You Gotta know the limitations of the equipment you’re using.
