Yeah you know it Peter, if it had been I would’ve definitely done what we call in Britain, a midnight flip buddy, like you said, knowing who it was he ran over and accidentally killed the poor kid, I think I would’ve got my family out of the area the same day buddy, to stick around like he did, he must’ve thought he was invincible, but how wrong was he? Another great video, well done buddy from Stevie boy.

My dad worked with John at Castro. He may have been one of the last people to see him before his abduction, he thinks. My dad and other workers at Castro told him repeatedly to leave town, Gotti is going to get you and John kept saying “I’ve known him for 30 years, he knows I didn’t mean it”. A couple of days after the abduction my dad spoke with the diner owner, a Greek guy. He told my dad a couple of guys forced John into a van and he made eye contact with them and he said he was scared and he was leaving his diner and taking off.

John Favara was a furniture factory worker who was last seen on July 28, 1980, as he was leaving his place of work. According to witnesses, they saw people beating Favara and heard tires squealing away from the scene. No trace of the 51-year-old man was ever found, and he was declared dead in 1983. Favara and his family lived in the middle-class neighborhood of Howard Beach, Queens. Months prior to his disappearance, Favara was involved in the accidental death of a neighbor's child. According to New York Daily News, Favara was driving back home in the afternoon of March 18, 1980, when he accidentally hit a 12-year-old boy riding a bike. was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead soon afterward. The boy was Frankie Gotti - the son of John Gotti of the Gambino crime family. The Gottis lived behind the Favaras, and their children were known to play together. When the incident occurred, Frankie's mother claimed that Favara was drunk when he hit her son. However, an investigation into the accident concluded that Favara was not at fault, as Frankie carelessly rode out on the street at a blind spot. No charges were filed against Favara . WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHN FAVARA? After the incident, John Favara attempted to apologize to the Gottis for the accident, but he was met by Victoria DiGiorgio, Frankie Gotti's mother, swinging a baseball bat. Favara also received multiple death threats, and his car was vandalized with the word "murderer." At that time, John Gotti was rising the ranks of the Gambino crime family, and Favara was aware of his reputation. Favara decided that it was best for his family to relocate. However, he disappeared before they were able to move, as reported by Where's Mamba. For years, no one had a clue about what happened to Favara, but many suspected that Gotti had something to do with it. The Gottis were questioned, but according to New York Daily News, the couple was on vacation at the time of Favara's disappearance. DiGiorgio said at that time, "I don't know what happened to him but I'm not sorry if something did. He never sent me a card. He never apologized. He never even got his car fixed." In 2009, court documents that were filed in Brooklyn revealed what may have happened to Favara. According to the files, he was allegedly murdered on the order of Gotti. During one of the trials of mobster Charles Carneglia, a witness testified that Carneglia shot Favara and disposed of his body in a barrel of acid.

Victoria Gotti's Fish Story John Favara goes down in history as one of the most pathetic victims of the mob. He was the next door neighbor of John Gotti, the bestial boss of the Gambino crime family. Favara accidentally ran down the Gotti's young son Frankie in March 1980. Favara was abducted and brutally murdered. Details of Favara's murder--apparently he was dismembered while still alive--have emerged in mob prosecutions over recent years, as described here. So that's that, right? Just another disgusting murder of hundreds of murders carried out by the Gotti crew and other mob thugs over the years. But now, it seems, Favara's memory is being foully stained. The New York Post yesterday published an excerpt of a new book by Gotti's daughter Victoria, and her account portrays Favara as a smirking, callous, drunk idiot: My brother had borrowed another kid's minibike and was riding in a construction site near the side of the road. But that dreadful day, a drunken driver was speeding down the avenue and struck my brother. The driver dragged him some 200 feet before angry neighbors stopped the car, pounced on his hood, and stopped him from crossing the avenue. "Don't you even realize you have a kid under the wheels of your f- - -in' car?" one neighbor, Ted Friedman, recalled yelling out. According to the neighbor, the driver, John Favara, then stopped the car. Another neighbor reached in and grabbed his keys, shutting the ignition off and pointed to my brother's near-lifeless body under the front wheels. My brother's blood seemed to leave a trail down the entire block, leading up to the now-parked car. Favara jumped from the car and started yelling, "What the f- - - was he doing in the street?" To complete the picture, Favara is described as catching sight of Victoria's distraught mother and "he shot her a smug smile. Then he grinned." Gee, I'd want to dismember a guy like that, wouldn't you? Except that this story seems like an absolute phony from top to bottom. Compare the account of the accident provided by Ms. Gotti above to other accounts, such as Mob Star by authoritative mob writers Gene Mustain and Jerry Capeci. There's no mention of Favara being drunk, or of having dragged the child for 200 feet. Favara was never prosecuted. In fact, as best as I can tell, only Victoria Gotti provides these gruesome "details," which are calculated to make Favara as muder-able as possible. The "smug smile" bit is totally lacking in credibility. Favara knew that he had accidentally killed the son of a vicious killer and gang boss. Every single other account, such as this one in New York magazine, make it very plain that Favara was mortified and repentent, and had consulted the neighborhood priest, who warned him to stay away from the Gottis. The New York magazine account adds that Favara was blinded by the sun when he struck the child, and that Favara's son Scott was close friends with Frankie Gotti. Scott Favara has had to grow up without a father because his family had the misfortune of living in the same galaxy as a blood-stained murderer like John Gotti. He hasn't even a grave to visit, as noted in this 2004 article. Now he has to see the memory of his father besmirched so irresponsibly.
@zigzzagz5732
@zigzzagz5732 Ай бұрын
If you think about it, the mother seeing her son torn up under the car might go a bit crazy. She might just see the accidental killer of her son as some smirking beast. But for Victoria putting it in her book these would be the stories she's heard from her childhood onwards. I doubt this is some calculated thing to besmirch the name of her brothers killer. It's a sad damned business any way you cut it. It's like going to the Amazon to film an unknown tribe and stepping on a deadly venomous snake. The snake does what snakes do and you do what people do when bit by snakes far away from medical help. It bites and you die. It's a tragedy and that's life.

John Favara Posted on March 18, 2014 March 18, 2014 I think it’s one of the most intriguing unsolved mystery episodes from the gangland career of John Gotti: For a long time I’ve pondered whatever happened to the neighbour who accidentally ran over and killed the mobster’s 12-year-old son - and then vanished? 34 years ago on this day, tragedy struck in John Gotti’s life. Gotti’s youngest son, 12-year old Frank Gotti, was run over and killed whilst riding on the minibike of a neighborhood kid called Kevin McMahon, near his parent’s home in Howard Beach, Queens. The driver of the car, John Favara, was a fifty-one-year-old service manager at a Castro Convertibles furniture plant, he lived with his wife and two adopted children on 86th Street, directly behind the Gotti family on 85th Street. His son, Scott, was childhood friends with John and Victoria Gotti’s oldest son, John Jnr. On March 18, 1980, John Favara was arriving home form work, when Gotti’s son, Frank, darted in front of his car. He had not seen the minibike suddenly shoot out from behind a garbage dumpster until it was too late. Favara told the police he was momentarily blinded by the sun and did not see the boy. The crash was ruled an accident by the police, but not everyone saw it the same way. Frank Gotti had been the apple of his father’s eye, the son for whom he had the highest of hopes. He was a promising student and athlete who enjoyed sports. His sudden death, crushed John Gotti and drove his wife, Victoria, into deep depression, the same feeling that would soon visit the Favara household. For days following the accident, John Gotti appeared utterly distraught, seemingly breaking down during his son’s funeral and burial. The grief felt by Victoria, whose life was her children, was tinged by a bitter rage for the presumed carelessness of Favara’s driving. For weeks after the funeral, Victoria Gotti dressed only in black. In the Gotti living room a picture of Frankie was hung over a backdrop of candles and flowers. A Queen’s detective who saw it called it a shrine. Almost equally brokenhearted, was the hapless John Favara. Not long after the accident Favara was subjected to death threats and harassment for months later. Two days after the boy’s death, an unidentified woman called the local police and said, “The driver of the car that killed Frank Gotti will be eliminated”. That same day Favara found a written death threat in his mailbox. Two weeks later, Favara’s car was stolen; it was found two weeks later abondoned on a street less than a mile away from his home. On another occasion Favara opened his mailbox and found a funeral card and a photograph of Frank Gotti, and the word “murderer” was spray-painted on his car. On May 28, John Favara a quiet family-man decided to visit the Gotti residence to apologize and to offer his condolences, was confronted by a wild-eyed Victoria Gotti who picked up a baseball bat and smashed Favara over the head with it. After being treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital, Favara and his wife, Janet (who died in 2000), put their house up for sale. On July 25, John and Victoria Gotti left for a week’s vacation in Florida. Gotti explained that he wanted his grief-stricken wife to get some rest and relaxation. “My wife is still mourning my son and I took her down there to get her mind of things,” Gotti said later. Three days later, on July 28, 1980, just two days before he was due to complete the sale of his home, John Favara left the Castro Convertibles furniture factory at the end of his shift and walked towards his car, which was parked beside a nearby diner, when he was confronted by a tall, heavyset man who whacked him over the head with a club knocking him unconscious. The assailant then picked up Favara and threw him into the back of a blue van, and drove off, followed by a green car that had been parked in front of the diner with the van. Later, a third man drove Favara’s station wagon away. Neither John Favara nor his car were ever seen again. He was officially declared dead six years later. The specific’s of Favara’s actual death remain a mystery. On the day John Favara was abducted, John and Victoria Gotti were conveniently 1500 miles away in Fort Lauderdale, (providing an alibi). When questioned by two detectives on Favara’s disappearance, John Gotti said: “I’m not sorry the guy’s missing. I wouldn’t be sorry if the guy turned up dead.” His wife Victoria, when questioned said: “I don’t know what happened to him, but I’m not disappointed he’s missing. He killed my boy.” On August 5, 1980 FBI informant Billy Battista reported that Favara’s body would never be found. Accounts differ on what happened on the day of Favara’s abduction and what happened to his body. On March 8, 2001, Jerry Capeci’s “Gang Land News,” ran an exclusive account of the John Favara disappearance. In the article, Capeci states that the story was put together from information from present and former law enforcement people who were connected with the case. Capeci identifies eight crew members - Angelo Ruggiero, Willie Boy Johnson, Gene Gotti, John and Charles Carneglia, Anthony Rampino, Richard Gomes and Iggy Alogna - as having played a role in the abduction and slaying. It played out like this: as Favara approached his automobile he spotted the men and turned to run. John Carneglia dropped him with two shots from a .22 caliber, silencer-equipped pistol. Favara gasped, “No. No. Please, my wife,” as he struggled to get off the ground. Gomes, a former hood from Providence, Rhode Island, who had joined the Gotti crew in the late 1970s, cracked Favara over the head with a two-by-four, picked him up and threw him in a van. Another crewmember took the victim’s keys and followed in Favara’s car. Favara and his car were driven to a salvage yard in East New York operated by the Carneglias. There Favara’s body was stuffed into a barrel that was then filled with cement. While Charles Carneglia disposed of the barrel in the ocean off Brooklyn, his brother John crushed Favara’s car at the salvage yard. No one was ever arrested for the abduction and murder. In November 2004, informants led the FBI to excavate a parking lot in New York City suspected to be a mob graveyard and the site of Favara’s body. While two bodies were found, Favara’s was not. During the week of January 5, 2009, Brooklyn federal court papers filed by prosecutors contained allegations that Gambino family hitman Charles Carneglia disposed of John Favara’s body in acid. Charles Carneglia, who is serving life in prison for four murders, was a hitman for John Gotti, leader of New York’s Gambino mob in the 1980s. Carneglia told a Gambino family associate, who is a government witness, that he disposed of the body by putting it in a barrel of acid, Assistant Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Roger Burlingame said. The mob associate who was not identified in the court papers, but sources told the New York Daily News that it was Kevin McMahon, a mob wanna-be close to Carneglia. Ironically the minibike that Frank Gotti was riding on the day he was killed belonged to Kevin McMahon. The case of John Favara has remained an unsolved mystery for 34 years and will continue to do so.

Nice John Brett. Brenda Castro , daughter of owner was in their TV commercials. She sand lead on a couple of "girl group" 45pm records in the 60s.. [Aside] WISE GUY TV used your found nice doo wop Bong Bong-he said he did not know u played it.U said it was in public domain. Is there a list of PD songs? I hear John C. has been free a few yrs. Why? Gotti took a train to FL and was there when . Was afraid to fly,so FBI intentionally took him to prison on a small, bumpy plan. Glad crazy Charles is still in prison. A crime movie to avoid--Getting Gotti with Lorraine Bracco playing Diane Giacolone!!! Its so bad Bracco somehow deleted it from her filmography. But the Mighty Quinn playing Neil in the Assante Gotti film is fantastic. Have nice Sunday.Yankees on ESPN later.

I'd say being killed in the park by Dammy and left in the street is better than being kidnapped and dissolved in a barrel by a sick f**k! So got the story wrong, yes but embellished, not so sure! P.s. Gotti with Armand Assante is one of the best mob movies ever made!

I heard Favara was tortured and kept alive. He was then chopped up with Gotti himself wielding the chainsaw! Gotti chopped him up alive after he rushed back from Florida, the trip used as an alibi. Just like the movie Scarface.Then the acid treatment after being dismembered.
