Hondo's speech during the half-time of his last game. Also some words said by Johnny Most (god, I love his voice) and Red Auerbach. Scratched the crowd booing Irv Levin, who presented Havlicek a new car. April 9, 1978.

The most underrated NBA player in history. The guy was great on and off of the court.

John Havlicek was the bridge from the Celtics of the 60s to the Larry Bird era.

I'm 65. I was at this game with some buddies up in the cheap seats. It was an incredibly emotional day. WE were all slobbering idiots by the end of this speech. What they don't show is after this he ran on the court with his hand circling high...like he had a lasoo. It was awesome !! RIP Hondo !

As a kid growing up, there were a lot of things I didn't like about the Boston Celtics, but I always liked John Havlicek

I'm so glad I was able to follow John Havlicek's career from day one. He quickly became my favorite Celtic. There will never be another player and person like the great Hondo Havlicek. DAMN! I miss watching him play! I was 29 years-old when I watched this live on television, and as a lifelong Celtics/Havlicek fan,I wept like a baby.

John Havlicek was a player who could do it all. An all time great! Great defensive player. Great shooter. A "clutch" performer. I met him and Dave Cowens once.

Was privileged to have attended Hondo's last game. As a kid, I would spend hours behind Cleveland School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa attempting to emulate his jump shot. He was my hero, in an age when Celtic basketball kept me going. RIP.

Talked like Mr. Rodgers, played like Jason Bourne. Could not be stopped.
