It's the 15th century. The Balkans is overrun by the ever expanding Ottoman Empire. Only John Hunyadi stands in their way. Hunyadi is the leader of a faction that controls Hungary after Sigismund of Luxembourg's reign.
In 1442 Hunyadi defeats the Ottomans in several battles, then almost destroys them during the Long March in 1443. In 1444 he is narrowly defeated at the Battle of Varna after the king dies. Hunyadi is elected governor and tries to take revenge at the Second Battle of Kosovo, but Murad II defeats him again.
After the Fall of Constantinople, Hunyadi finally gets his victory at the Siege of Belgrade, defeating Mehmet the Conqueror.

Say hello to James, our new narrator (his links in the description)! I fired the old narrator because he sounded too much like George Soros, and he din't even like the job too much. Plus this might increase productivity, and who knows, maybe catch the eye (or ear) of the algorithm... Oh and I didn't even mention the new-new visuals!

I hope I’m not too rude by insisting on this, but the whole tone of the video has changed. Your unidentifiable accent, the serene music and your gravitas of voice made for an calm, allof experience that befits the times of old. There was both a sort of detachment and a contemplation of tragedy. There was some repetitive intonation, I guess because these are long scripts. The new experience is more epic, demands more excitement and thus seems more like the other simmilar channels. Best of luck.

What in old hungarian language means: "bulgar-white castle" ..because the Byzantian empire took from bulgars back...than the hungarians took from Byzant. Like wedding gift goes to Serbia. When Georg Brankovits can not hold more against the ottomans, give on Hunyadi and took for this many hungarian village and castle,s. So goes back to Hungary for ca 100 years. The serbian people always called them : Belo-grad...the "White Castle" 😉

Peace lover, Ottoman Sultan Murad - II. We have already noted that not only the Ottoman but also the Byzantine chroniclers accord the highest praise to the justice and mildness, honesty and forthrightness of Murad II, to mention only the principal traits of his character. Occasionally this emphasis on the bright side of the sultan's nature has been explained as an effort to paint as dark a picture as possible of his successor, destroyer of the remnant of the Byzantine Empire. But when we examine these historians' words more closely, we see that they were meant in all sincerity. "Sultan Murad," observes Chalcocondylas ( Contemporary historian ), for example, "was a man who loved law and justice and had fortune on his side. He waged war only in self-defense. He attacked no one unjustly. But when he was attacked by others he took up arms. If no one provoked him, he took no pleasure in campaigns, but the reason for this is not to be sought in laziness. For when it was necessary to defend his empire, he did not fear to set out even in winter, nor did he measure the dangers and difficulties attending his undertakings." Ducas( contemporary historian ), probably the most reliable of the Byzantine annalists, said to be a man enamored of the truth, gives special emphasis, in his judgment of Murad II, to the loyalty with which the sultan observed his treaties with the Christian powers, and stigmatizes the failure of the Christians always to exhibit the same virtue, as exemplified by their breach of the peace of Szeged. "Murad kept his given word,'' writes Ducas, "and not only to those of his own people and faith, for he never violated the treaties he had concluded with the Christians; when the Christians transgressed against the treaties and broke their given word, this did not escape the eye of God, which sees the truth. His just punishment befell them. But His wrath was not long lived, for the barbarian did not follow up his victories. He did not desire the total destruction of any people. And when the defeated sent envoys to sue for peace, he gave them a friendly reception, granted their plea, laid down the sword, and went the ways of peace. For this reason also the Father of Peace granted him to die in peace and not by the violence of the sword." Orthodox under Murad-II: ( Around 1443 AD under Ottoman Sultan Murad-II period ) " On all sides ( Pope's allies at Northen Balkan, sharing Ottoman border) there were uprisings against the Ottoman overlords and soon the Turkish garrisons were driven from a number of important castles and fortresses. But it should not be supposed that the Balkan peoples joined in common revolt against Ottoman rule. By prompt payment of the ' harac', the tribute always imposed on them, the Christians of the conquered countries purchase the right to live unmolested in their faith and to maintain their customs and many of their institutions.......Those who paid their taxes fully and punctually enjoyed a life scarcely different from that of pre-Ottoman ( Roman or Byzantine) times. Such, at least, was the case in the fifteenth century. It was only much later that bribery, extortion, blackmail, and usury made their appearance in the Ottoman provinces, that the officials, often spurred by insatiable greed, began to suck the blood of the population, and that all life was poisoned by deception and distrust. But this was in the decadence of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries; conditions were very different under Murad II, who, as we have noted, was respected even among his adversaries for his sense of justice. Thus it was not so much the people who rebelled against the new masters ( muslims) as the would-be rulers, who feared for their lands as well as for those privileges and liberties which they still retained." " The main reason for Ottaman success , however , was the development of stable and permanent institutions of government that transformed a tribal polity into a workable state ". ( ii ) " The Ottamans utilized all human resources in their emirate and quickly learned skills in bureaucracy and diplomacy ........ They also did not slaughter every Christian in their path ; rather , they encouraged the Christian inhabitants of the countryside and the towns to join them . Islamic law and tradition declared that enemies who surrendered on demand should be treated with tolerance . ( iii ). " The Christians of Bithynia were obliged to pay the ' harac ' , or capitation tax , for the privilege of being tolerated , but this was no more burdensome than the taxes they had paid to the Byzantine government , which had neglected their interests . Once they had made the decision to surrender or defect , the Byzantine population resigned to their fate ". Jagello managed to be crowned as Bohemian King which lead to ceasefire with Pope and Sigmund. It was after then that hussite mercenaries became famous in Europe. I jsut dont think your mention of J. Žižka is on point.

"Hunyadi János, also known as John Hunyadi, was of Romanian origin. He was born in the Kingdom of Hungary, which at the time included parts of modern-day Romania. He was a prominent military leader and statesman during the 15th century, and played an important role in defending Hungary against the Ottoman Empire." It was just a matter of time. There were few empires wealthier than the Ottoman empire at the time. Hungary was going to fall eventually. Their only realistic chance was going to a diplomatic one, too bad they couldn't come to terms considering Hungarians and Turks share common ancient roots. They're like distant brothers.

Iancu de Hunddoara was the son of the Romanian small nobleman Voicu and of Elizabeth (possible descendent of the byzantine aristocracy).Romanians do not have a problem with his origin , Hungarians have, so Hungarian nationalist propaganda invented that he was the son of Sigismund. Because accepting the reality of a romanian origin for the golden age Hungarian king Matei Corvinul is unbearable for most contemporary Hungarian nationalist propaganda.
@balentinus
@balentinus Жыл бұрын
Nobody thinks here in Hungary that his father was Sigismund, it was a legend in the time of his son Matthias. János's fathers origin is obviusly cuman, his name "Voicu" is the romanized form of hungarian/cuman name Vajk/Vayk which is a pagan name and it was literally the pagan name of our first king Saint Stephen. And the mother of János was Morzsinai Erzsébet (Elizabeth) and she was from a Transylvanian noble family of moldovan/wallachian descent, but the family got its nobility in the 1200s from king IV. Béla and the family got hungarised overtime. Plus the Hunyadi family's DNA is literally proven that its like 70% cuman and you can't change biological facts.

@@balentinus Brother, it's historically accepted nowadays that the Corvin/Hunyadi family were founded by Voicu who was indisputably a Wallachian/Romanian nobleman. There's nobody of importance who claims he was Cuman, much less any DNA testing being done to prove it.

@@jozefdobrovodsky2932 Moldova and Wallachia were founded by leftovers of the Golden Horde (Besarab for example) and cumans. They were the nobles of these principalities because vlachs didn't care and didn't know how to create a state, and didn't even lived in cities thats why the romanian word for city comes from hungarian. These noble families got romanized in the 15th-16th century. The dna test of the hunyadi family was done by croatian and hungarian scientist in 2021, where they they took dna test of Corvin János son of Matthias and the from the son of Corvin János who is Corvin Christopher, they are both burried in the church of the croatian city of Lepoglava.

@@balentinus Provide a source for your claims of the DNA testing, I have heard of no such things. The only thing I found while looking it up is that the Hungarian government asked for DNA testing to be stopped because "it wasn't needed"... Also, from a little research and asking around, it seems the Romanians also use the word "cetate" for city which seems to be derived directly from latin... I don't know what's with the Hungarian claim for their words but I think Romanians know their language better than Hungarians, just saying. Also if you say that Wallachia and Moldavia were formed by the remanants of the Golden Horde then I don't think we can have a historical discussion of any kind, you would be completely oblivious to the topic. No European state was formed by mongolians, this is just a Hungarian nationalist Turanist obsession with trying to claim that they are somehow related to steppe nomads while also trying to claim they are European. You say every country in Europe was formed by Cumans/Mongols/Kipachs/Sarmatians which is just pure schizophrenia. Claiming that the Hunyadis were of Wallachian origin is the same thing as saying they were Romanian, in the same way the Habsburgs who ruled over Hungary were Austrians, not Hungarians.... Both the above statements are true, the Hunyadis were Wallachians/Romanians and the Habsburgs were Austrians. I don't know how you say the Hunyadis were Romanianised by the Romanians in the 15th century when nationalism didn't exist at the time.

Principal component analysis of more than 500,000 SNP genotypes reveals significant overlap between present-day Turks and Middle Easterners and a relationship with Europeans and South and Central Asians. According to this study, the genetic ancestry of Turks is 38% European, 35% Middle Eastern, 18% South Asian and 9% Central Asian.This means that the vast majority of the Turkish population does not descend from Turks (a small part only 9%)

"The silence that overtook the room did not cow him, either, as he stared down the generals and diplomats gathered there who knew not what to say at such a proposal. Even the bold Hungarian warrior of Wallachian blood, John Hunyadi, felt the tension. He and his fellows were not convinced and shifted uncomfortably as John Capistrano awaited their response. The only man who seemed cool under the heated call to arms was one who some doubted was a man at all. Another of Wallachian descent, he sat still as a statue, eyes smoldering beneath his princely headgear and his tremendous moustache concealing any sign from his mouth. Vlad Dracul, called the Impaler, was listening, recognizing something in this wiry, hollow-cheeked old priest that matched the fanaticism and ferocity of the Turks. Dracul’s eyes met Hunyadi’s. Thus began the unlikely alliance among a saint, a soldier, and a vampire." www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/dracula-joins-john-capistrano-in-war-at-belgrade

Orthodox under Murad-II: ( Around 1443 AD under Ottoman Sultan Murad-II period ) " On all sides ( Pope's allies at Northen Balkan, sharing Ottoman border) there were uprisings against the Ottoman overlords and soon the Turkish garrisons were driven from a number of important castles and fortresses. Thus it was not so much the people who rebelled against the new masters ( muslims) as the would-be rulers, who feared for their lands as well as for those privileges and liberties which they still retained."
