John Kiarie - MP, Dagoretti South: The least the city of Nairobi expected from Governor Sakaja was a plan on the issue of drainage but at the moment, the city is running 'kiundutho'. It's being run haphazardly, with no plan, erratic, reactionary efforts that are so disjointed that they do not speak to each other. The city is being run on the goodwill that had been done by the previous administration, nothing new has been pronounced.

I dropped of a matatu at ambassador stage on a rainy evening but just to reach bs was hellish with hawkers filled on the pavements so you fight for walking space with matatus bobodas etc under the rain!! What a mess!

Passed by the once, public open space around Tom Mboya statue, next to Archives and it's now full of tents and hawkers, and it's also a matatu stage. The nicely "cabro-paved" Luthuli the same. A bin at the Ambassadeur, 58 Double M stage was replaced by a shoeshine stall 😔 - *90% of drainage in Nairobi has been clogged by roadside traders and encroachments* - Nairobi CBD is a mess.

Matiangi was sorting this issue but people were accusing him of targeting people from the mountain. Too much talk and no action. This MP is a friend of the president, let him tell the president to order people to vacate riparian lands countrywide. It will be a painful decision but we will save the country for future generations.

Climate change effects coupled with poor drainage systems and unmanaged concrete coverage that makes sippage difficult leading to.too much runoff. There has to be a master plan on city planning based on current climate erratics and controlled development that has overloaded the carrying capacity of different zoning of the city. Nairobi has ALWAYS had a master plan. The first master plan was developed in 1939. It's in the archives. But since independence, corruption and political expediency and uncontrolled settlement have taken center stage and all rules and regulations chucked out of the window. The results are what we now see. Choices, actions and stupidity have consequences. You cannot develop and settle while ignoring and disregarding the environment, serious impacts will follow and the price will be heavy. Prayers won't help. This is only the beginning, brace for more catastrophes. The environment is what houses and accomodates us and you cannot eat up the environment and get away with it. You can't burn up your house for fire wood and still expect to have a home. It's one or the other.

Nairobi is overbuilt without proper storm drains under the streets! They should learn from Las Vegas which suffered from flooding until they built huge storm drains and opened spaces for the flood waters to run freely without causing damage to homes and businesses. The British designed Nairobi for only 100,000 people and kept it clean with strict laws that were enforced. Everything fell apart after independence when unplanned urbanization took over and people from upcountry were allowed to build whichever way they wanted, mostly by bribing and now it's all a big mess!

Oh My... Proper Plan prevent Poor Performance. The City Of Nairobi requires a Master Plan that will last 100years. Sewage Pipeline / water/ Electricity/ Roads/schools/ Hospitals/ Residential Areas/ industrial Commercial Units… But This will require a Team with High level of skills Sadly Sakaja have None & That’s include his City Hall Pigs. Again People of Nairobi you’ve Failed ur City. Voting on Tribal Grounds have no benefit to city and country in Large. Kenyans are suffering allover but hey who’s to Blame You Voters.
