Civil rights leader and longtime US congressman John Lewis spent his life fighting for freedom and justice for everyone. In this illuminating conversation with lawyer and activist Bryan Stevenson, Lewis discusses the essential importance of voting, shares encouraging words of wisdom for the generation of young people currently organizing in the struggle for racial justice and tells moving stories from his decades of making "good trouble" -- at the Freedom Rides, March on Washington and in the halls of Congress. "When you see something that's not right or fair or just, you have to say something," Lewis says. "You have to do something." (This conversation is part of the TED Legacy Project. Recorded November 19, 2019)

I would love to see Bryan Stevenson have a series of interviews with influential activists that help us understand how we can each be inspired to stand up in courage and embrace their traits and lessons in our own missions for justice.

I played in a band with Bryan back in 1982 back in our college days back in Philadelphia. He was a good keyboard player and songwriter, we went in the studio in Levittown and layed down some tracks. He always had a heart for what is right and for truth, a great Christian brother

New Covenant Guy Hello, thank u for this link. While I’m aware of black politicians who do not look back with a helping hand. I wasn’t aware John Lewis was such a one. I was solely responding to this interview. I do hope that in the end he did have a repentant heart. I also know that politics is a powerful foe to those not prepared for that arena. I believe planned parenthood killed many beautiful men and women who could’ve glorified God. Even though we fail, our failure doesn’t disqualify us from being used and being blessed. Thank u! And God bless

Now there was a glimpse of what Steve Jobs so poignantly articulated,"We are here to make a dent in the universe; why else would we be here?" Empathy and uprightness (integrity+humility) are the cornerstones of humanity, this TED legacy talk will advance the collective consciousness of the planet (and beyond, someday soon) irreversibly. Love and much gratitude to the TED team from Goa, India: The proverbial El Dorado that has gotten used to *NOT* seeing an iota of justice since liberation in 1961

I begged my brother to get help but I didnt realize those I would ask for help are the very ones part of the horrific issue of brutality against Blacks. i may never d8sciver the truth of what happened in Newark . There is so much blatant acts of questionable leadership and betrayal of trust.
