I have the earlier miniseries and book and haven't seen the present series except for video shorts as here; waiting for the future planned DVD's release. But I believe I'm personally going to fall in love with this Mariko-san.

Man Toranaga really was was a puppeteer, amidst all the scheming and plotting to seize power he even managed to concoct such cruel scenarios and gut wrenching moments amongst his puppets.

So hard to find the words. I saw the 1980 series when I was a child. I knew the core story. The foreigner pilot and the beautiful Japanese lady fall in love but their love has no chance to last. I knew this painful line when started to follow this 2024 masterpiece. And after all, Anna's play exceededmy wildest dreams. Her Mariko has stolen the show.
