Welcome back everyone! Today we have a very special guest. I'm talking to the one and only Rob Wiethoff who voiced John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2. This was a huge game for me years ago and I'm honored to be able to talk to the man behind one of gaming's most famous characters. I hope you enjoy!

Funny thing. It's a raspy ass voice.... you'd think it's unappealing. Is it because it has grit and character? Or cus it's Marston? Chicken or the egg..... at any rate.... strongly agree.

Me too. RDR was the much better series in my opinion, but GTA is such a huge revenue generator for Rockstar that there's no way they'd skip it. I just hope it's not another 10 years or something before we get to see a 3rd game.

RDR3 is certainly being produced already, I would bet they have been at it for about two years at least, RDR2 started production in 2013, RDR was launched in 2010, so I would say they must be working on it since 2021 at least. Rockstar always said that if RDR2 was a success, they would bring a third game to the franchise and we all know the astronomical sucess of the game, even to this day people are playing this game nonstop.

I always loved how with most voice actors, they put on “A Voice” to the character they’re portraying, but with Rob it’s just his normal speaking voice he didn’t have to do anything really. He’s got that raspy, Midwest, sandpaper voice which is just perfect.

Every time I hear people talking about Red Dead Redemption 3 I always think that maybe they should just leave the Redemption franchise at just two games. Red Dead Redemption 2 was so iconic that I’m worried that a third game might dilute the story and make it seem like Rockstar Games went to the well one to many times. Maybe keep Red Dead as a general label for a western series, but make the next game something totally different that has nothing to do with the Van Der Linde gang.
