The only other solo I’ve seen him do that has carried the same energy was his solo for “Gravity” during the Mac Miller celebration of life. I highly recommend checking it out, not many views and is in my opinion his best solo… and gravity isn’t even my favorite song of his😂 absolutely masterful!

I completely agree with you! Gravity live version and this version of Covered in the Rain are my favorite JM songs. What comes through his guitar is indescribable, no words. And his lyrics and his charisma. He's a gift from God to his fans and audience. His music melts me.

Not sure what you're on about. His "pop" music if you can call it such filters throughout his whole discography. If you're talking about his first two albums being "pop" then honestly I think this stuff was better melodically subjectively than his later songs. And I've been playing guitar for over 20 years where it's a massive passion of mine.

I often hear people complaining that John is just an average guitarist and is only using the “easy pentatonic”, but look at SRV, or Hendrix, or BB king, they pretty much only used the pentatonic yet they’re some of the biggest guitarlegends of all time

And dont forget that oh so familiar but ever revealing emotional barometer that is the “guitar face”. Most of, if not all, the best do it. I have always tried to read the faces to understand the notes better myself. SRV did it. Prince as well. Keith Richards has a sort of subtler version because I’m Pretty sure he is a living mummy with skin so leathery I’m unable to ascertain much. Anyone who ever played the instrument this well are guilty of making them myself included. John’s talent is undeniable.

Absolutely! Really reminds me of the SRV - "Life Without You" solo. Both quite slow ballad'y songs with solos that just come in and hit you right in the face and with so much emotion and power behind them. Definitely two of my favourite solos of all time!
