I started dating a woman 8 years older than me a year and a half ago.i asked her if she wanted to hear some good music! She said yes! So I played Vultures! She said no no no! I don't like John Mayer. I said just listen. When the song was over, she said.... Can we hear it again!?!? It was over for her at that point. We're going to see him in April!

Not trying to compare or make hotheads angry, but this song and performance, with the organ bluesy version, the slowly built up climax and the jam at the end to let you just enjoy the chords make me think it could have been a composition by The Doors and America, think about it. John Mayer is not in the crowd of current artists anymore, this is just Legendary! An artist that will remain in the new age of geniuses.

You may be right. It was absolutely amazing when I saw it live last year. There are some real gems from his Born and Raised/ Paradise Valley era. I Will be Found, Waitin on the Day, A Face to Call Home, Whiskey, and Queen of California are my faves. But another song that I heard live last year at that concert that might be his best is Changing. It was beyond epic. Another candidate is Edge of Desire, which was also epic live.

I love the new hippie John Mayer. It seems like every album he puts out he reinvents himself. I'm so glad he left a lot of the bubble gum sound he had on his "hit" songs in the early 2000's. When he made the discussion to let the world know that he was not just a normal guitar player but a guitar monster it bought him an older crowd of fans ranging from 20's to 70's. I think you can thank Buddy Guy for that when he did Austin City Limits with John. He devoted half the show to his "hits" and then he got down with Buddy Guy and let the world know Johnny ain't messing round.

Al Kelly Only weak guitar players go on KZfaq to criticize and compare guitarists. Real musicians see that John Mayer knows what he's doing musically. And he plays with so much soul! I literally don't know how someone can't see that! When you win 7 Grammy Awards, you can start giving your opinions.
@arnolddealiii425910 жыл бұрын
I think comparing Steve Morse to John Mayer or even Allen Holdsworth is comparing Apples to Oranges. Allen is a fantastic guitar player in Jazz Fusion and if that's what you like then yeah your right John isn't going to really do that. But I myself don't really care for Jazz fusion, I think they are brilliant but it just sounds like a guy that can use all 4 digits on his hand going off wide open for 5 minutes while the drummer tries to keep up with what ever changes Allen is going to do next. 2 minutes of listening and you've heard it all. I think John Mayer could step into that as style of music if he wanted to but I think the sales point for John is he is as equally gifted writing music as he is soloing over the music with a guitar. I think he used to have a great voices, but his surgery has clearly restricted his vocal range which hopefully with a vocal coach and training will return if not get better. I most certainly don't think he's the best guitar player in any form of music, but I think he can hold his own with anyone living or from past generations. To sum it up he pretty damn good!
@vincentagundez829710 жыл бұрын
***** in this world, there will always be somebody better than somebody. John is still in his prime, he is selling records, and look at the many famous guitar plays he has performed with in different genres. For example B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Kanye, Alicia Keys, etc. For crying out loud he has sung with the great Tony Bennett

As one from the 60' and 70's generation, I can only say that John Mayer will have been at the top in true talent, a visionary, artist. Today's Hip Hop is pure trash! There is no talent in Hip hop. I am now a John Mayer fan and now plan to take up guitar, as old as I am to learn some of his songs.

Saw John in Orlando. This was the song that was my favorite from the show. He is an amazing performer, and puts on a great show. Only complaint was that it ended

i've watched this video so many times and have stripped the audio to play as an mp3 in my car to jam out to. the crowd is so dead though. kudos to the kids in the corner trying to rock out to the song tho. I don't think there's a better live version of this song recorded elsewhere in concert.

gotta say, these Letterman performances are right up there with Where the Light Is performances. If not better.
