It sounds like the delay is playing with our ears

Seems like the phone is picking up the true stage sound, and after that the PA sound in the venue. There’s a little delay between those which causes the ‘doubling’

I mean being very close and very far off the stage always sucks

wrong lol. its because of how close the person is to the mic's and amps... you hear the echo lol.. the drummer was fine.

It’s the acoustics of the arena. You’re hearing the delay of the audio from the speakers to the back of the stadium bouncing back, due to the videographers proximity to the stage and the line array. You can hear it in the guitars as well. Drummer did great.

Others have already said it but it’s an unfortunate slapback echo from the acoustics of the arena.
