I really hate it that you do this song with such emotion. 50 years ago on a sandy beach in Florida I met the girl I wanted to spend forever with. We were both young and reality forced me to enlist in the Army. I did it all. Infantry, Airborne Paratrooper, Special Forces. Combat action. We drifted apart and she left me for another guy. When I came home she was gone. I keep moving but I'm empty inside. This song is the dagger in my heart and you killed it. Great cover to move me like you did. I'm so glad we don't live forever. Sunrise on the beach is ...... What can I say ? Quiet except for the whispering wind. 🌎

Trust me , she didn’t leave you , God removed that poison from your life and took you places and let you gain experiences to prepare you for life . Women like her are a dime a dozen looking for the next best thing as soon as you’re not in view . Just be you and put that experience in your emotional toolbox . You’ll know the moment you meet your real soulmate , I did . Took me until 6 years ago , and I’m now 49 . Best 6 years of my life and she’s my wife now almost 4 years . Thanks for your service 🇺🇸. I did my time 1993-1997 USMC .

I'm not a country fan and stumbled across this by accident. I have heard many covers of this song, and this one is really, really good. Probably the best I've heard. It really captures a sadness and melancholy in the lyrics, the end of summer. The tempo and humble production values of this version is just perfect.

I’m a big fan of Don Henley and country music. The fact that he brought them together in this beautiful rendition of this timeless song just made me smile. I subscribed immediately after hearing the first few chords of the intro. I can’t say how many times I’ve listened to this.

This the saddest song I've ever heard. I remember when the 1984 Don Henley version came out. I didn't realize how sad this song was until John covered it. It's really sad. There is hope in it but I'm not sure how much.
