If Chelsea is leading the match 1-0 and its 70mins.. When Maurinho looked at the bench and gave a nod, you knew as the opposing coach that it was over.. When this man came on as a sub late in the game in the second half with instructions from the Jose to park the bus, I dont care if the refs added 60mins stoppage time, I don't care if its a second leg and teams go into extra time due to aggregate score.. The opposing team won't score until the final whistle. This man was a brilliant defending midfielder, no one dribbled past him. Maurinho had created a monster here..

Chelsea wasted John Obi’s talent. He could have been a Modric or Riquelme with physicality but Chelsea turned him into a poor man’s Makelele. Imagine being compared to Juan Roman Riquelme as a teenager only to come become a sitting midfielder passing safe passes and hackling runners. Such a shame.

People are finally seeing and appreciating what Mikel brought to the team and in football in general..dependable, humble, consistent and got on with his task. Role he played in those Chelsea teams was so crucial..these days clubs are forking out crazy amts for players like this..Kante, Jorginho, Caicedo etc..players like this make the team tick..its simple one touch passes nearby but the stability it provided was so key for any team to function.. Dont forget he always played offensive with his national team..so he also had that knack for splitting passes..glad to have had you in the team..played for the team always first and never forget that unforgettable night in Munich..thank you Obi-san ✌️

@@kaypakaipa8559you’ve clearly responded like someone with no clue. If you understood or saw the talent he had you would know he was wasted at Chelsea. Playing DM when he could be a #10 is a waste of talent. This is similar to Yaya Toure being used as DM or CB in Barca by Pep, then he came to City and was devastating going forward. Would we have seen that had he remained at Barca? No we won’t. John Obi could play like Riquelme or Modric but with physicality. Why do you think two top clubs were fighting for his signature?

@@abdulmodibbo6319No Abdul that’s not what I’m saying. If you follow football you know that certain players will succeed under a certain coach and fail under another. Toni Kroos barely got game time under Pep but became one of the best midfielders of his era at Madrid. Yaya Toure was restricted to DM and CB role under Pep and Rijkaard but came to Man City and became an offensive force. Forlan did not quite get off the mark with Ferguson but still became one of best strikers of his generation. My point is Mourinho did not unlock the potential of John Obi. Same way he did not unlock Mo Salah and Kevin De Bryune who are two of the very best players of the current era.

Obi missed the chance to play in an attacking trio with Ronaldo and Rooney at United. He could have lived his dream under Sir Alex.

@@Helena_01541 thsts nlt counting games he was on the bench and didn’t play at all od it ? If you’re honestly saying Mikel was a first choice player most of his Chelsea career you simply didn’t watch football back then it’s not even a debatable thing with anyone who followed football. He was second choice to essien, makalele and matic at different points
