It’s a tragedy that John wasn’t on during the insurrection. Can you imagine the shows we would have gotten? Man, really missed him then. There’s just no one that can mix humor with razor sharp insight like Oliver.

Well, I do have a tendency to wonder what he'd be saying about things that happen when his show is on break, but I'm also a little glad he didn't have to because I think many of these issues sincerely do pain him, so I'm happy to think the weight is off him once in awhile. I don't know if he CAN relax, but at least he theoretically has the option.

I agree with N. Joel. I love John Oliver and so wish he was on nightly. I was so very happy that I could watch this swearing in without a pit in my stomach. Now to stop trump from starting a third party that he hinted about. I find that a scary thought. Thank God this is over, as Ii breathe a sigh of relief. Go Joe!

Not 15 hours, but I had my best night's rest in months, probably. I basically took a midday pause to watch the inauguration, and I went to sleep last night watching a movie. Today feels like a new day. All videos regarding Drumpf's goodbyes, pardons, or future plans are dismissed as "Not Interested." We all have work to do, but that obstacle has been overcome.

Amen to that. I was on the Interislander on the last day of the Christmas/New Year holiday & the ferry was packed with families heading home. The scary thing was that besides me there was only one other person wearing a mask. If just one person was infected when we boarded in Picton then potentially 300+ passengers could've been infected by the time we got to Wellington. We have definitely become complacent and that is very dangerous heading into our second winter of the pandemic.

John should do a special explaining why he became a US citizen: ...becoming a citizen is ... about the idea of the country (and that country) trying to become something better. Or, as the Constitution puts it, "..To form a more perfect Union. And that, friends, is, and should be, a work in progress. Of course, this costs money. Why, the rich (and therefore the McConnell Republicans) are against it.

Jimmy it felt so safe and a sense of calm came over me and a friend that I was watching with. We both realized that we were emotional. Afterwards listening to him and not having to watch a child that had a tantrum every time he spoke. Heaven.

The movie John’s referring to is “The Remains of the Day”, which is a FANTASTIC movie and perfectly sums up what he was trying to imply. Correction: I’ve since discovered he *was* talking about “Shadowlands” and merely got the actress wrong. They are both lovely movies, regardless!
