Also good luck calling *British comedian* a nobody or irrelevant. One major skit of theirs is to be self depricating, since British humor also in general is dry and self-depricating at times. As seen here "Oh he called me irrelevant? That is completely correct". Call them bad at comedy and they will agree happily to your face. Pretty much "Hey DeSantis, thanks for giving me a good pitch ball from which to kick couple jokes".

To be fair, not even Johnny Carson could hide his distaste for guests that he wasn't crazy about having on his show. There were times when he was forced to have guests just because the network was promoting a TV show or a movie. In those cases, Carson would just ask a few questions and let the guest talk and talk until his or her time on the air was over. One such guest was Bob Hope. Who had a lot more power and influence than Carson did at NBC. So whenever Hope had something to promote, he would ask to be on Carson's show. Almost unannounced. Much to the frustration of Johnny. Who had to tell their other guests to reschedule their appearance for another time. Carson admitted to close friends that he didn't like Bob Hope for that reason. And if you watch his appearances on Carson's show, you can tell that there is some friction between them.

Watching this part reminded me of when John derailed Jimmy Fallon’s interview with Alexa by trying to ask it what union busting is. He’s the reason I even thought to look up and follow any late night KZfaq channels. Conan I’d watch primarily for interviews, but mostly comedic actors and comics, not just any interview. @@checksanity I'm not familiar with Craig Ferguson. I'm the same with Conan, I'm always looking for his interviews, and the effort he puts into skits is unmatched as well, though I never got into the habit of his monologue. I always catch Colbert's monologue. His style of comedy jives with me more than Seth's, and after watching him for 15+ years going back to the Report I just genuinely like watching him. I would say I see more of his interviews than Seth's simply because they're around after his monologues, but there are quite a few Seth Meyers where you can really tell that the relationship shines through. John Mulaney is a big one, and I have big respect for how Seth handled a very raw, personal and not super funny interview with Mulaney over his struggles with addiction.

@@billbillerton6122 You're naive now, it seems. I don't mean to be condescending, but to imply that Ancient Aliens and Harvard research are equivalent sources of information is quite a take. John Oliver does portray a very particular viewpoint, I'll give you that. More importantly though, he doesn't fail to back it up with realistic arguments, compelling ideas, and most importantly, actual facts. What separates him and so many others is that John Oliver is so much less reliant on fearmongering and scapegoating to prove a point, and rather than rely on the status of a network like Fox or CNN, his show succeeds because it is skillfully crafted and well-oiled, and people actually take time out of their day to seek it out because of that. @@sangeet9100 Its worth noting that John Oliver did a podcast with Andy Zaltzman which was initially distributed by The Times. In 2011 the hosts started getting a lot of publicity for fiercely criticising the paper's owners. How can you not love John Oliver? He's great and I love his Last Week Tonight show. He really tells it like it is and unfortunately the way it is looks pathetic, abusive, bleak and hilariously obvious. He exposes the true transparent facts that we can look forward to a lot more of the same if we don't wake up to the bad actors serving us giant helpings of these things by the butt loads. Good job and thanks for helping us see and understand the elephant in the room and helping us to laugh at ourselves for letting a lot of these insulting things slide for so long.

There is nothing scarier than a witty, British person who has decided that one's attempts at insulting them are "amusing." The British meaning of "amusing" can here be translated into American English to mean "cute" in the sense of "laughably pathetic." Having found one "amusing" the Brit will now employ their wit to have some "fun" with one. One will not find this fun _at all._
