The best thing for John Paul right now is to back off of Carter and let Carter romance him when he's ready to come out. Unfortunately, Maxine will end up getting her heartbroken but that's on Carter.

Finally, it's about time that the writers allowed John Paul to show some maturity and understanding and stopped pushing Carter to bare his soul to the world before he is emotionally ready. The way to go is for John Paul and Carter to get together and come up with a plan where Carter tells those close to him first, one by one, and then he lets others know as they need to. That way the blackmailer will have nothing to hold over him. Unfortunately, the writers won't go down this path because they want the most drama and turmoil they can possibly wring out of this situation. It's sad, because Carter and John Paul are so good together and I'm certain that viewers want their relationship to work out ... that's what would keep everyone watching ... but instead they're going to tear them apart ... which is not what we want at all.

@@Tiekin515 ❤💚💜💚💛🧡 It won't be easy, but they are really good together and I hope the writers can at least give John Paul some happiness instead of heartbreak and turmoil. It would be lovely to just have the two of them enjoying each other's company, developing their relationship and falling in love. John Paul could move in with Carter and they could set up home together, along with Carter's daughter who I'm sure would love to have John Paul as her second Dad. But does Hollyoaks allow us to have story-lines of domestic bliss? I fear not.

I agree. To be honest, if the writers decide to tear them apart, John Paul will be nothing more than a supporting character popping in here and there much like he did for a lot of 2023.

@@richardlee2642 Yes, the writers have a chance to create something special here by actually giving us a gay relationship where the two begin a loving and supportive relationship, together as a couple. I believe John Paul is a very popular character and viewers would love to see him happy for a change. Plus the sexual chemistry between the two is terrific and viewers want to see more! Cheers

@@Terry-dl4nf I'm new to the show, but it looks like every attempt is made to keep legacy characters on the canvas alternating between supportive and leading roles. I agree with you that there is undeniable chemistry between John Paul and Carter. John Paul had a lot of time during 2023 to assess his life (while unemployed) admitting at one point that he doesn't have much to show for his life. I hope they don't have him revert to his impulsive nature.

He is and so does Lucas that why he is acting out really that why he was asked his dad does all relationships fail recently.
