The Smiling Pope. You can see it clearly from the time he appeared on the balcony until he finished his Urbi et Orbi blessing. Such a warm smile. Still missed by many 36 years after his death.

Most moving Urbi et Orbi ever, at least in recorded times. It was beautiful. Thank God that, upon his tragic death, we had an actual living Saint take the reigns of the Universal Church. God Bless you all. Cars.

Yeah, he's Argentinian, but he's also Italian. His dad is an immigrant from the Piedmont region (northern Italy) and his mother's parents are as well. He's like me! A child of immigrants! Technically, I am an American (born and raised), but, I feel the Italian and Greek of my heritage more than my American birth.

I liked his Urbi et Orbi best of all the recent popes. He gave only the 1, but boy was it good.

@Davidudaya: it's there! It starts around 5:25. The sound does cut down a little, but you can hear it. I was always unhappy that I couldn't find sound or video of this portion either, but finally I did. I do hope to edit a better version someday though, if I get more complete footage.

He really seemed to want deep changes in the Vatican (while most of the cardinals there wanted to keep being conservative) which makes you wonder if he really was assasinated. John Paul II was a great pope (despite he was very conservative with many issues) but I wonder what would had happened if Albino Luciani didn't died so early...

He was, he wanted to revert the church to the aspirations of the Lord, but none of his proposed reforms came to fruition as they went against Italian Mafia and Freemasonry.

On the contrary, he loved the Jesuits, and wanted to join the Jesuits himself as a seminarian. His bishop said no, they needed him as a diocesan priest. When he became Pope, he chose a Jesuit who was a good friend (Fr. Sorge) to succeed him in Venice, but the Italian bishops didn't want it. Don't pay attention to nonsense by ignorant people, they do not know the facts. I'm sure JPI would be happy with our Jesuit pope.

Born and raised in Argentina, therefore, he is Argentinian. It's not hat he was born in Argentina and grew up in Italy, no, he grew up in his native country so he IS Latinamerican.

you have to get your facts straight. He's not from Italy, his parents are. Pope Francis was Born and Raise in Argentina, studied there, joined the jesuits the, became a priest there. Just like a lot of people from Argentina (i'd say majority) he is decedent of Italians.

The Catholic church went downhill after JPII. Look at the Palmarian church now, they are pre 1962, have their own pope named after the only head of the church St. Peter, and are NOT in communion with Rome.

Interesting. So, "wake up man" are your facts to back up your statement? That's all I want, "man", facts. You give me facts that would lead a REASONABLE person, not a radical anti-Church person, to believe he was Murdered. That's all I'm asking. Saying he was gunna shake things up are not facts a reasonable person would take and say..."oh, then he'll be killed". Come on man. I know you won't do this, but at least pretend to give me some FACTS. Till then, I guess I'll pray it's not too late..Cars
