It's such great language isnt it . Shame the guitar isnt louder on the original recording . Hearing it like this makes you realise how tough Sco was playing at the time. Some of Dennis Chambers best playing too this one

..thanks for uploading this John, studying a solo like this really gives you an insight into how Johnny Sco develops an improv over a static root type of groove, exploring a lot of different tonalities on the way..good stuff brother

Thank you. That's why I wanted to learn this one, and also share the notation so we all can learn from it.

the solo reminds me of R ford, used a lot of those mechanisms w/YJ. Listing the scales is a cool idea
@johnmorrison5812Ай бұрын
Yea some similar diminished lines right? I can hear that. I’ve been checking out some Ford lately

Awesome-what's the underlying harmony? A sort of static G7#9 or is it more vague than that neither stated as major or minor, just a G tonic/root?
@johnmorrison5812Ай бұрын
Yes that’s what I was thinking. There’s a specific bassline for the melody that is hard to specify scale but it starts on G and sounds like G diminished or G7#9
@lightningstrikes7314Ай бұрын
@@johnmorrison5812 Right, yes, thanks for the reply, great job on the transcription and performance.

Nice tone - what effects you using? Rat with very low gain and a boss chorus?
@johnmorrison581229 күн бұрын
Thanks 🙏 Boss chorus yes. Not a rat but it was either Plim soul or Mini ts9. Also got the analogman compressor and EP booster
