An indentured servant boy with a questionable origin story, supposedly inherits a large piece of Long Island from a Native American leader, selling much of it each new buyer has a vested interest in John Scott's claim being legitimate. What follows is a story of conflict and takeover of the New Netherland Colony, treason against the Connecticut colony as its' Long island settlements pull away, pregnant women smuggling objects into prison, all the while John Scott reinventing himself, often falling upwards in life, and helping to shape the boundaries (and existence) of three US States.
Believe as much or as little of this story as you wish...

I lived on Nichols street. It's not far from Wyandot street. There is an unusual canal that runs through the back yards of the houses dividing the area. On the land survey is a utility easement owned by the Dutch Holland land company. History is not limited to the past. Thank you for sharing your account of the events that have lead to where we are today. There is an old painting that is said to depict George Wahington inspecting a line of British soldiers, George was said to be 6'2" tall and in the painting the soldiers are a full foot taller than George. I find the report that a large man simply carried john Scott away to be a very likely scenario.

Thanks! Season one has Haudenosaunee episodes, and that story will continue in season 5, which will be released sometime before the events depicted in the book of revelations.

I grew up in the area where Scott set up shop & built all his houses; very grateful to not be part of Connecticut. I'd say there's never been another man worthy to be called "President of Long Island". John Scott was truly the first and most quintessential Long Islander.

I wonder what my ancestor Captain Richard Betts thought of John Scott. Richard lived in Newtown Long Island from 1652-1713, Served as Magistrate and was the High sheriff from 1678-1681. Somehow managed to dig his own grave at 100 years old just 3 days before he died. They were built different back then.
