I wouldn't call this jazz, there is very little improvisation but definitely amazing music

@@DTTaTa According to John Zorn, Naked City was intended as a "composition workshop" to test the limits of composition and improvisation in a traditional rock band lineup. And there is a lot of improvisation here, though under strict rules set by the composer. Notice the way he directs the band.

@@allotrope2978 one more thing, he doesn’t have a lot of his albums or projects on streaming services. He believes in buying physical copies. I recommend going on Discogs or his label website to purchase his music! I have been buying his CDs and just burning them into iTunes and then transferring them into my phone.

Another reminder about Bill Frisell's amazing virtuosity and eclectic approach. At one time I found Zorn hard to take but I must admit that now, at 70 years of age, I feel that I am growing to like some of his music. Thanks for an interesting upload!

Each of these guys is completely amazing. I was in my late teens/early 20's back in the 90s, going to shows in NYC at least once a week. So many great ones. Joey Baron was always so fun to watch live. Bill Frissell was mesmerizing. I remember seeing Masada at Town Hall, Paul Motian Trio at the Village Vanguard, and Fred Frith solo at the Knit (one of the best shows I've ever been to). Grateful to have been a part of that scene at such an exciting time.
