Mercury (MerCruiser) 3.0 Diesel is a brand new, compact, high torque unit for both sterndrive and inboard applications and comes in outputs from 150hp to 270hp. It is available with joystick control, as well. This comes on the back of new V6 and V8 outboards, as well as other electronic product developments in the last year alone. Look out for more, too!

Yes, this is a VM Motori (wholly owned co of FCA) Diesel in collaboration with Mercury. The Merc 4.2 TDI (Turbo Direct Injection Diesel) is in collaboration with VW/Audi group.

VM Motori or VW... Both excellent engines, similar power, both in the Mercruiser range...

It’s a Fiat engine , Motori LLC is Fiats diesel division... hence the mention of FCA at the end of the video.

@@wrzl1675 it's a Jeep, Maserati and RAM engine too. VM Motori has made diesel engines for more than 70 years.

Belt guard should be standard equipment not am option

What about people that have boats that do not have the clearance for that guard? Should they have to purchase something they cant use?

I wouldn’t want it. That’s just one more thing to take off when servicing. Just don’t put your fingers on the belt when the engine is running.
