That brings back memories. When i was just out of high school I got a job in a shop that specializes in making acoustic ceilings and walls for commercial buildings. my job as the new guy was to hand sand all the wood and prepare them for finishes. I did enjoy it and it did spark a love for woodworking,

John did a great job, but a studio control room would avoid lots of hard surfaces (IE, plywood). This is more apt for a drum room where you want a to capture a room sound, whereas in a control room you want as little reverberation as possible. I'm an audio engineer and I'm loving this DIY audio stuff John is doing

Your craft is superb. Very well done. And I love that you have a respirator on while sanding. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen work with wood (and other materials) cut and sand away without any protection. Folks don’t know how dangerous the sawdust can be over the years.

That is f'ing awesome. I'm sitting at the kitchen table and saw the thumbnail and read the description. At first I didn't realize that it was I Build It but thought that that would be a great idea to use in the front half of my kitchen. I'm seriously going to consider it but I might not use plywood. I'm making a cabinet and pallet wall at the front of my kitchen but was thinking that I have to do something else in the rest of the kitchen. I think this ceiling idea might be it.

Love how this looks. I’m doing something similar with 1/4” plywood; mainly for installation reasons (34’ x 48’’ with a ridge line of 14’-2”). The cloth is an interesting idea. Can’t imagine how much echoing I’ll get when the carpet is removed off the floor and this is a great way to deaden the space a bit.

Wont the Brad nails sag over time? I love this treatment. And the cutouts really create the textural depth giving the room added dimension. The wall screens of the end cuts clearly are also acoustic and so grounding..beautiful job John. Thank you for sharing all the tips you add in, so helpful.🙏🙏🇦🇺
