I am a 70 year old Nam Vet that just heard this song for the first time. It brought tears to my eyes. My children love me but they don't understand. I have PTSD and this song brings back the real memories of the war.

Johnny Cash was the real deal. He didnt put airs on for anyone, and he called it the way he saw it. Mr Johnny Cash, American icon.

This was played at my late husbands burial. USMC Enlisted in 69. Deceased in 2018. Too young. I love and miss that man.

A lot folks haven't come back. Whether from Nam or the Middle East. Then or now. That kind of hostility and violence changes a person on a base-level. Drive on, indeed.

Absolutely beautiful version, thank you! What a great sound they had with the upright bass - back to the basic Cash sound.

I spent most of my life resenting both of my parents, they were crazy, controlling, and mildly hateful. They were also both Vietnam Vets. I went to Iraq in 2005 at the age of 26. Now I understand. All of us vets need to drive on, because nothing we did means nothing.

He'd always switch lyrics slightly from the CD just like he would do with Dalia..but both are GREAT....and Cash is AWESOME.
