You can tell the grip that drugs had on John in this video. But it's more like he didn't use them to get high....more like to just get by....you can tell the pain he's going through with the drug struggle. June, gotta love you for saving that boy!

I am 70 yrs old. I don't remember seeing johnny cash looking that young, but my folks were somewhat fans of his music, I most likely did. I have long memories of a lot of 1950's personalities, including this song which came to mind just a few minutes ago. I was thinking it went to at least 8 or 9 feet, but I guess not. Anyway, I was really shocked to see Johnny that young. Though I have memories of his contemporaries that young and even younger.

I love these old songs about their younger days. If you close your eyes and listen it's almost like you are right back there with them. Johnny, June and Elvis will always hold a place in my heart. When music was great. Side note, I have a picture of my Uncle with Jonny and June. It's something I cherish.

What a sad, but gifted man!!!

My parents lived through the same flood. My dad lived a good way from the river so they just got stranded for a few weeks till the water went down. My mom however lived about 4 city blocks from the river and her house was completely under water. She spent a week living in a funeral home and everything they couldn't carry either washed away or had to be burned

Joiner Arkansas is my hometown I went to school at Wilson from 1st to 12th. Dyess is about 6 miles from joiner going gravel roads. I new a man who lived in his house for a few years. Joiner is hometown to alvin bennett who started the chimkmonks. His farm benwood was next to our farm . Him and my dad were friends so everytime they had a new album he would bring us one.

My parents saw Cash in concert, it was in his early days, not sure when but it wasn’t long after I was born which was ‘62. They said that when the curtain opened, he was sitting on a stool, he was so stoned that all he did was sit there, apparently people started booing him and that was about it for the concert. My mother was annoyed and my Dad said he could of cared less anyhow.

Wow! Yep, Johnny was pretty "high" in this clip and for this show, yikes! And he looks AWFUL. What a difference between this and his live performance on his TV show later on in the 70's after he got off the drugs, at least for a time. Great clip though of course and thank you so much for posting this!
