Johnny Cash, an American icon, is captured in this amazing performance from the 1994 Montreux Jazz Festival. Going through 19 of his classics, including a guest appearance from his wife June on "Jackson", Cash gives a history lesson of sorts.

I saw Johnny Cash when I was in High School 1968 I think. He came to Norfolk VA and me and 5 of my friends got to meet him back stage. We were right near the back door and his limbo backed in. He got out and the promoter who was hosting us motioned for him to come over. He acknowledge us but instead went over and tipped the driver. He came over and shook hands with all of us and signed our 8 track tapes which i still have today. Quite a memory!

You’re right there, something very special. I remember being a country and western fan going back to a small child, in the days of Jim Reeves, country and western singers have silky smooth voices, even the not so good singers, they have voices you could listen to all day, gorgeous, gorgeous voices, belonging to gorgeous, gorgeous men, the look of men that have lived, every year of their lives are etched on their faces, it’s lovely to see, they can’t hide what they’ve done it’s there for everyone to see.

All the comments are true on this song and it makes me think of another song by one of country great George Jones "Whos Going To Fill There Shoes?" The answer is very simple "Noone Will Ever Fill Any Of The Greats Shoes That We Have Lost In Past Years." I will say not all new artists are bad they just had to change with the times. The times have truly changed since this era in the music business.

Johnny Cash is one of my favorite country musician/singer/songwriters of all time! He had died when I was 8 years old, and the sad thing was I never listened to his music when I was younger than 8. My interest in his music began when I watched a Day Out With Thomas video and near the end, right before the credits rolled, the song "Casey Jones" played in the background. I looked up the musician who sang this particular song, and when I watched another music video about Casey Jones, I looked at the artist in the description and it was none other than... Mr. Johnny Cash! I did some research on who he was and what his songs were all about and began listening to them. I also watched the movie "Walk The Line" with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon and listened to the songs that were in the movie. The more I listened to Johnny's songs, the more I loved them. And that's how I became a fan of his music.

Here mr johnny cash the real voice .of the way country music is supposed sound i heard him singing when i was 13 years old in my dad car my father beautiful car 1972 buick rivera it was not new.but my father always said the man in black. My dad is 82 and he love Johnny cash music he seen concert 1962 and George Hamilton forth thay were putting show on in boston mass.then i got right in to Johnny cash i love this man music and talent .he a legend in real country music.i also love his gospel music my mother was well knowing artist in famous irish music in usa and Canada and Ireland but she in heaven. With all legends of music .god give everyone a gift some is music and lot of others things.musis put people in a good difference mind of frame. I know that music is a miracle when people are down or sick and there artist brings the back up.this song is my most beautiful song and favourite song johnny cash ever sang that is my view. Just one thing i do no like at all people makeing on to me send me that there the child of a famous country legend daughter and it not them last week i recive a comment from Roseanne cash what i like about her dad .plese people stop sending me stuff like that if it was true she would phone me all KZfaq people who run this know who on this and there likely doind it to other people. Don't fall for fake people. And tim McGraw also made a comment to me because I sais the best love song i ever heard.was neddle in a hay stack in 40 years and it is.everone say that Johnny cash merle haggard waylon Jennings George Jones is very missed. I am a big fan and my mother but there with god in heaven singing july 22 2021

I’ve always appreciated the Older Country Music as each word had such meaning in the song. And the songs themselves were fabulous, almost as if it told a story from the beginning to the end. All done classy and without all of the cussing and demeaning names that people use against each other in today’s world. I really miss so many of the Country stars who have gone on home to Heaven, but I’m sure they’re having a great reunion each time another departs is, and joins them!
