Kudos to the people at Disney in 1955 for discovering this talented guy. This was when Disney discovered talent and didn't create it. R.I.P. Mr. Crawford!

Between 1961 and 1964 the Los Angeles, California native had eight records on Billboard's Top 100 chart, one made the Top 10, "Cindy's* Birthday", it peaked at #8 {for 2 weeks} in June of 1962 and spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100... He had two Top 20 records, "Your Nose Is Gonna Grow" at #14 for one week in August of 1962 and "Rumors" at #12 for one week in December of 1962... While a student at the Los Angeles City College Broadcasting Dept., in 1965, I organized a contest involving the young star of the Rifleman TV series, Johnny Crawford, the actor who played the Rifleman's (Chuck Connors) son on the show and who also had a hit single called “Cindy’s Birthday.” The promotion offered a young woman student a date with Johnny to Disneyland. I went to Disneyland with Johnny, his agent, and the winner of the promotion. Johnny’s agent took publicity photos of everyone.

I can remember hearing this on my late sisters 45 record player, you know the kind that you could stack up to 10 45 singles on and they would drop down one at a time. She also had Wayward Wind among her singles and Image of a Girl and oh yea Sacred. She has been gone many years now but not a day goes by that she is not in my thoughts. This is most certainly a great song from a bye gone time.

I like songs from the 50’s and 60!s because the instrumental is as beautiful as the vocal! Often orchestral sounds. And the words are so clear! Which is more than I can say for most songs of today. For most of today’s songs I don’t call them songs, rather, noisy trash. There’s a general lack of beautiful melodies and there is too much screaming, like they are trying to show off their vocal power more than singing! You see that a lot on American Idols, America’s Got Talent, Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor! Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston are examples of screamers! Susan Boyle, Adele and Bruno Mars are some of the rare good ones of today.
@MGR19003 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Melody has practically disappeared. Pick a random Billie Eillish song. There’s no melody. It’s hollow and not memorable.
