Johnny's 2 minute guitar solo at around 3m15secs sends shivers up my spine... If that's not channelling something spiritual from another DIMENSION, I dont know what is...

What's genius about Marr's playing is that he plays lead and rhythm lines at the same time.

Clarifications: 1. Johnny Marr wrote this song, "Getting Away with It" with Bernard Sumner when the two formed Electronic. 2. Johnny Marr was the chief songwriter of the Smiths. He wasn't Morrissey's guitarist. They're bandmates in an equal collaboration. If anything, I would say that Johnny did most of the heavy lifting as the songwriter. 3. I've seen Johnny Marr in concert, and he is a genius rock guitarist.

I think you'll find Morrissey was the songwriter and Johnny did the music.

Did you mean that Morrissey was the lyricist & topliner? Both Marr & Morrissey acknowledged that Morrissey wrote most of the Smiths' lyrics.

Their stage presence, the colour of Johnny's Jag, the lights, the shadows, the silver nail varnish and not to mention that drum roll on the outtro. There's no thorn in this bands side, they're exactly where they want and need to be. Hats off.

The new(?) melody line from 4.05 is sublime, really adds to this classic track.

I was thinking that myself. Be has picked out a melody that sounds like it could be a new Smiths track.

It's a play on the melody line on the outro if you listen to the studio version but still it's good to hear it being pushed front and centre. Gets a bit submerged on the original by the strings etc.

Impecable, que buen bajo. El riff de Johnny Marr impresionante, el Baterista de otro planeta. Que buen tema.

Johnny is massively underrated as a singer, an absolutely blinding guitarist. Makes this song his own, also discovered it purely accidentally

Well I guess it is his song given that he wrote the music with Bernard.

This is one of the greatest band's for a long time to come around I'd love to catch a live show before I die which isn't too far off unfortunately. Oh well maybe the choir of angels will be this great. I know they will be.

he looks pretty transported when he plays it. it must be awesome to love the things you write that much. still wish he could hit the high notes in the chorus, though.

He seems to have trouble hitting the low notes too. He's one of the best guitarists IMO, for being so (relatively) understated of a player. Not one of the best singers, for sure.

It's a really difficult song to sing if you haven't got the range. I try every time I hear it and fail miserably, but thankfully nobody is listening...... I think Johnny did pretty well myself.

In my top10 live performances of all time. Bangin' - In the front row! What a band, put together with great understanding. A bit of Brian Jones T Shirt in the mix - Changed over for later video's. Tight, strong and a bitter sweet symphony. Rock and Roll will never die - and I like it.
