Cyberpunk 2077 is coming this fall from CDProjekt Red and R. Talsorian Games which projects the timeline of the beloved classic Pen & Paper RPG to the year 2077. So far everything I've seen about this game has me very excited and I do not usually get very hyped up about a new game release. The trailers and in game footage look positively fantastic! In one popular chunk of game footage that's been released we see our ally Jackie ordering "Two tequila old fashioned's with a splash of cerveza", the bartender refers to this as a "Johnny Silverhand". It's named for the long established NPC Rockerboy who first appears in the 1988 Cyberpunk 2020 release, and is now being performed by Keanu Reeves. A number of you have asked me for my take on this drink and I got my bottles out and got to work on it, and here it is. I'm pretty damn pleased with this one, I'd be lying if I told you that every drink I made on this show was 100% spot of perfect, but I really don't think there's a thing I'd change here.
Johnny Silverhand
Prepare a glass by rimming it with chipotle powder and set aside
In mixing glass combine
.25 - .5 oz. or 8 - 15 ml. simple syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 Dash orange Bitters ( I used Regan's)
2 oz. or 60 ml. Tequila ( I use La Gritona)
Stir over ice and strain into the prepare glass
Using the back of a barspoon float approx. 3 oz of Agave Maria beer from the Last Abbey

Cyberpunk Red Jumpstart kit is out. You could play that on twitch. It's an intro to the system and the setting and is VERY good.

Sooo... I've never actually used it, so I'm not sure if that would ruin the drink texture, but as a chemist I wonder why you didn't use gum syrup instead, since it would have made the old fashioned part "heavier" thus helping layering.

@@Heiryuu They have a new box set "Cyberpunk Red". It's a bit 90's, but it feels easier than I remember the old system being. Basic roll is Stat+Skill+d10. It has a fun little micro-lifepath system that could be fun. I haven't had a change to play as I am old and too busy (pity me), but it looks fun. It'd be more fun if we weren't LIVING a cyberpunk but hey--that's not their fault.

Two years late but quick note about Johnny, despite his love for hard drinks and liquor (as seen in the game) one thing I think ties into his old-fashioned lifestyle is never forgetting your old habits. Most likely, the choice of beer isn’t just a off-hand decision by Silverhand, instead its to remember how he used to kick it back, with a few beers and a good time. Johnny is all about remembering and honoring, and most importantly rebelling. So not only could it be a way to remember the old fashions, but to also rebel in his own way by adding beer of all things to a cocktail. Gotta say, has a rockerboy charm to it.

This is Greg and HTD in absolute prime form. You don't just say it comes from a cyberpunk game, you *go into it* and talk about the genre. You don't just make the drink, you *go into* the thought process, the ingredients, everything. This is an entire affair centered around an innovative cocktail. You really do use the game simply as a jumping-off point to explore your own new material, and that's what I look forward to every time I watch. That, and watching the text overlay take low-key pot shots at Greg.

Thing is. In the lore. The United States agreed to tack onto the Eurodollar to have a unified currency. Thus "ED" or "Eddies" . Top it off some of the top major corporations on the West Coast US come straight from Japan. Long with that, the Metric System has taken hold. So really the world won.

I've made this one a *lot* recently, and here's some notes: - i can't get the beer to float on the tequila with the one i'm using (Faust Eisbock, 12% alcohol), instead it sinks to the bottom, and i still get my layers. - sprinkling in some ancho chili rather than adding it to the rim of the glass adds an interesting effect: the ancho will sink through the tequila but float on the beer, so i get two distinct layers, separated by floating chili

CDPR should update the ingame model to mirror this. Looks fantastic. Also sounds like it mashes perfectly with "we've got a city to burn"

For viewers in the UK, this works well enough with Westmalle (fairly widely available), which is about half as strong as Last Abbey's Agave Maria. Just take the layer pour really slow, and it should layer up fine. Obviously don't know if it tastes fully authentic, but I enjoyed it.

Just got shunted over here from a binge of cyberpunk videos. You get a sub and it sort of blows my mind that I haven't thought to look up this sort of content before even though some of my favorite things are making stuff and drinken. Also, gotta love describing the neon and chrome future while wearing overalls and standing in front of a deer head. It was hoot.

I want to see some cocktails made with Limoncello! Seems like a great thing for summer, especially paired with iced tea or lemonade, or perhaps some mint! I’ve tried looking up cocktails made with Limoncello, and they just don’t stand up to your videos, so I’d love to see what you can do. Like if you agree!

i had this exact same thought about 2 weeks ago! ur right, there really just aren’t any worthwhile mainstream limoncello cocktails (in my opinion) so i decided to make my own like our man greg. i haven’t actually gotten around to testing it yet, i’ve been busy lately, but i’m basically making four versions of the drink and seeing which i like best. it involves flavors limoncello, rum, ginger and possibly mint with a garnish of grated nutmeg, and ill be trying different ways of incorporating these flavors into the drink. once i find the combination that i think works best i could let you know

I’ve thrown in some limoncello in flavored sparkling water. Alcohol and sugar in one addition for a low abv summer crusher. You could probably throw in some bitters too

Limoncello-Tonic with basil and lemon peel as garnish is pretty tasty. There is also a great cocktail called Meatpacker on kindredcocktails.

This summer my go-to drink is limoncello spritz. Pour 20ml limoncello, add some ice, fill glass to 2/3 with prosecco, add sprakling water and slice of lime. Perfect drink for hot summer evening.

@@CocktailChemistry and that's completely cool. even if you had landed on the same recipe, in the end the videos are about entertainment, and whether it's you, nick, leandro, steve, vlad, or whoever else, everybody styles their content so differently that, really, unless you're specifically looking up how to make a particular drink, already knowing the ingredients barely even matters for the enjoyment of a video.

For any experimenters, I could not find this beer OR any other beer that would work as a substitute, so I just stuck with a regular Mexican cerveza (regular Modelo), and to get the agave element (besides the tequila ofc) I used some agave nectar to balance it, and while it doesn’t look quite right, it tastes pretty good, quite a bit sweeter than he described since it’s a much lighter beer but I’m enjoying it. Maybe it’s more of a Johnny Bronzehand 😬

So I really wanted to make this drink but could not find the beer in the video. Instead I tried to keep more to how Jackie orders it, so here is my take on the drink with more common ingredients. - Juice from half a lime - 2 cl simple syrup - 4 cl tequila - 1 splash of angostura bitter - Crushed ice - Top up with a light lager (I used Corona) Now the thing that really ties this drink together is the rim of smokey chilli salt - Tablespoon Kosher salt - Tablespoon Chili powder - Teaspoon Ancho Chili Powder - Half Teaspoon Smoked Paprika Enjoy 😉

Just made this and it came out phenomenally! I used Founders Mas Agave Lime instead of the Agave Maria. You don’t get the color gradient, but it does float some and the beer works great in the cocktail.

Yeah a bit steep, but if you have a bar near a comic con or some kind of game con, it should definitely be on your specials board for the week. Them peeps bring money to spend by the thousands at those events.
