Johnny Weir was before his time. The judges just didn't know what to do with him. He was more than just an athlete or a skater--he was an ARTIST!

His skating represents the epitome of elegance and grace. He weaves a story that I wish it'll never end forever. I can never forget his skating especially this one.

This is the only thing that makes humanity beautiful: The human ability to create beauty. To look at an icy pavement and think: "I could create dreams in here, I could transform my movement into magic and show the world how beautiful life can be."

I really miss skating like this. I know skating has to evolve and now skaters are performing multiple quadruple jumps, but Johnny's skating is so pure, effortless and just beautiful. His skating defines elegance and artistry. It's too bad he wasn't rewarded with an Olympic medal. But, like Michelle Kwan, he doesn't need one to prove he is one of the best skaters ever!

I meant an Olympic gold medal-Michelle has every medal except that one.

No Olympic medal or world championship. Still, one of the most beautiful skaters of either gender I've ever seen. I love that he makes more money than almost any other skater except Kristi, Scott Hamilton & Michelle. A huge part of that is his originality, intriguing personality & intelligence. That ON TOP of being a fabulous skater!

@@marisolgarcia3123 An exquisite one. I always felt that artistically, he, Paul Wylie, Jason Brown and ESPECIALLY John Curry were the best ever. I hate the GOAT label, but if we’re going to go that way, no one could touch Curry. He was a fine compulsory figure skater (something that is a lost art), and he could do the hardest jumps competed at the time. The short & free skates were longer back then, too - he finished first or second in them. He landed almost every jump on the beat of the music, and I have never seen anyone so in touch with the music. I miss him, terribly. Johnny, Paul & Jason make me smile, because I am reminded of Curry’s untouchable artistry. Thank you for recognizing a genius at work.

What's so incredible about this so called 'sport' is that you're watching something breathtakingly beautiful while two guys sound like they're describing the workings of a combustion engine.

Johnny, you are exceptionally talented. You are a joy to watch, especially for those of us who feel "different" and may have suffered for it. You are a fine role model with your perseverence, tenacity and superb skating technique. May your skating career continue to widen, although you sadly didn't get the Gold Medal you deserved at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. There's alot of hate and jealousy, but you have such class; you rise above all the pettiness, You've uceeeded-you've the Gold in my book

I wish Olympians were what we considered celebrities. We let some people get praise and fame just for being famous or sleeping around, and yet Olympians work their butts off all the time. They deserve to be treated as royally as some of our celebrities who have no right to be treated like anything but the trash they are.
@lynnesnyder23955 жыл бұрын
I think Johnny Weir is a celebrity. I think he deserves the acclaim too. But movie stars work very hard for their money. Acting is not a talent most people possess. Most actors spend years honing their talent. Ask anyone who works on a movie set how hard everyone is working (including the actors). You are just jealous of other people's success. You are right in thinking some actors have messy personal lives but so do lots of average people.

Johnny, you are supremely talented. You're a joy who may be "different". Although I'm female, I've encountered people (generally older and even some in my own family) who have a problem with me not looking traditionally "feminine" and being unmarried, so I especially admire Johnny's tenacity, courage and superb skating technique. Johnny, you stand for all of us who may be considered "different"; you always persevere to seek perfection.
