Man that's one of the most beautiful being that ever walked in this earth , to me Johnny is just the whole pack put together , the blues , the country and the Rock and Roll , and he was albino , to me he's the one . There is not one single day that I don't think of him with the deepest respect and love for his music and legacy .

Yes Johnny was soft spoken but his guitar playing was at the other end of the spectrum. Loud, screaming and whailing. He also made his guitars sing. His fingers did all the singing as well. Your fans love you Johnny me included. RIP and God Bless.

I followed Jonny's journey the blues since I was just a kid! Being born in 1956 I lived through the best music EVER! Jonny is and will always be my favorite! I fell in love with the blues in the 60s before it became mainstream and cool! Thanks for the memories Jonny! Ray Boston Massachusetts

Man, I followed him since '70's high school...my 1️⃣st real guitar hero. ❤️ It’s interesting how he reflects on his early, voracious appetite for ALL blues recordings...BUT didn't initially focus on the early country blues, it was the electric blues that 1st captured his attention. Ironically, I too, was much the same, but as my tastes & listening experiences deepened, my love for the early pioneers of genre, truly grew. He speaks from the heart, very intelligent, (Tommy Shannon insisted that BOTH Johnny & Egar are not only musical virtuosos, but intellectual geniuses). This was a great interview, thanks. 👍 🇨🇦

Such a cool guy....saw him so many times....sat in his van a few times and he signed my shirts....he was the best....end of story.,.....was a real nice guy....

I am mesmerized by this man's super riffing, and also his deep feeling!....and he knew, hung out with, and recorded a few tunes with the most iconic player of all, Jimi Hendrix!...The sheer talent, and dedication to their art, will stand the test of time....in an odd way, Hendrix and Johnny just had to happen at the same time....it was a cosmic pairing of unique musicians!

Being from Brazil start to like music at age 14,listen to Jimi and was hooked in guitar right there. Led me to Johnny and is an instant became my hero,start buying his albums and the love kept growing.My girl gave me a dog,got him and when asked how would name him , said his name is Winter.Little did i know how the name fit my dog,as he grow from a pup to his size race,,english pointer in a way was much like Johnny. So much energy,fast could outrun any dog,jump so high,even dive head in the water to pick up heavy rocks in the ocean.Moved to the States and saw my hero three times live during my life.Also because of him got a treat to see Muddy Waters at The Roxy on Sunset Blvd.Loved the man and the musician...RIP my hero,sure miss you

Got to see him several times in the 80s at smaller rock/blues clubs and the smaller rock stage at Summerfest in Milwaukee. Despite his ability, he wasn't filling up larger venues like so many lesser talented acts. Could never get over seeing this small, frail looking guy take the stage and put out that magnificent smoking electric blues sound. Glad I got to see him when he was still with us and so saddened to hear of his passing.

Saw JDW ~ 10 times, just the best and most versatile (blues/rock/country-tinged jazz, etc.) singer/guitar slinger combo of all-time, IMHO. R.I.P. Johnny

In the summer of 1969(I think), I saw saw BB King and Johnny Winter in a small bar, with psychedelic light show in downtown Cleveland, call the Uphoria. Buddy Miles backed them up on drums. The following year Johnny Winter headlined his own show in Cleveland's Severance Hall, with his famous Rock n' Roll Hoochie Coo and others!

Yeah, but those intricately finger picked songs from those old guys was a true art form. Very difficult to catch on to. Appreciate the hours and love of craft they put in. Folks more into the electric sound these days.

Great interview. Johnny is more revealing than I've heard him before. Still haven't heard him say why he covered Stones so often. I figure it's because they popularized the stuff he already knew and loved. And Mick and Keith soon knew that. They were white boys bringing it back, but Johnny was there all the time.

Huge fan of Johnny Winter! I decided to try a Gibson Firebird because of him and it turned out that I really loved it, it has some really hot pickups and it's a big guitar, the neck, the fretboard, all much bigger than any other guitar I played, which suites me fine.
