Awww, two of my faves! I’m retired from a blessed and busy 60 year career as a studio singer and spent six wonderful years singing backup on Dean’s TV show during the golden 60s.Dean was the greatest boss you could imagine, kind, funny, deeply respectful for all of us lucky enough to work with him. He was a consummate pro and I really miss those years. I used to get asked about his “drinking.” Apple juice. Rest In Peace, Boss. You are deeply missed.

Dean is my favorite singer ever. We had his music playing at my wedding and everybody loved it. No chamber music was played. After we were pronounced husband and wife, instead of the traditional walking up the aisle music, we danced up the aisle to "Ain't That A Kick In The Head"! Everybody cheered and clapped. During the reception, we played Dino, Sinatra, Bobby Darin, etc. and we were thanked all evening for not having tasteless music played. We were young too. We've been married for 18 years now. Once a week now, we have a nice sit-down dinner while the above singers serenade us as we decompress.

You got that right. Even though I was born in the 1970s, I love Carson and his guests more than that phoney Fallon. It's such a pity Hollywood has such few greats left and a guy hosting a late night talk show who couldn't be more fake than the plastic on Cher.

@@LisaGemini Thanks, Lisa. Yes, he really has no talent. When he talks to guests, he often interjects with irrelevant comments and smiles or laughs at the wrong time. That's why I think he's disingenuous, because he's palpably detached from his guest.

Dean Martin is a real character. People don't realize that Martin wasn't just a singer. He was a real first rate comedian. This man knew how to deliver a punch line. His entire schtick was build around the drinking and appearing half lite. He was a devoted husband and somewhat of a home body. He didn't drink that much, but the act fit the times. We just don't see entertainers like this anymore. Variety shows went away and the only way to see these guys, was in Vegas.

He was unfaithful to his wife but they remained close after the divorce. His drinking was NOT all fake, he was a moderate drinker and after his son’s death Dean became an alcoholic. He was incredibly talented as an actor and of course a singer.

@@minecraftbuilder3110 People who knew the rat pack and his son are the most reliable reporters I'd say and the consensus is that Dean could drink plenty of J&B Scotch but would cut it off earlier in the evening than the rest. Also, he drank on air frequently but not as drunk as he would pretend. He liked to have a light buzz when he was doing his act on some nights and on others he would just have apple juice.
