Let me "try" to give my black Sisters some progressive minded man's insight to this. I think Black people need to stop looking at things in terms of dark or light skin though. It's a "poison pill" given to us by White People hundreds of years ago. I get what Gill is doing here. That pretty smile trumps any of these skin color societal standards that they tried for centuries to put in our heads. Trust me as a man, if she walking around the house with you all day, the smile and warm personality means everything, lightness or mocha-ness of the skin means nothing (note I use the term "mocha-ness" and not "dark skin", the latter has historically has implied something negative or less beautiful, and that's not the way I look as skin color, apparently, nor does Gill).
