My friend and I loved Two Tigers in the arcade circa 1985-86. Yes the objective is to bomb several holes completely through the ship while avoiding the enemy planes, but the brown planes will plummet and damage the ship for you after you shoot them (though the blue planes I believe do not damage the ship).

Arcades were my second home. Also any restaurant, convenience store, bowling alley or wherever I went that had any kind of games I was there and playing them. However, I’ve only seen a couple of them you covered in this vid. It’s amazing how certain things never reach certain areas of the country.

Over here in England I never saw some of those in the arcade like Flicky, Mickie but I know it was on the commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum and whatever that dig one was, not sure about the bull fighting though as it looks familiar but I can't see it being released in the UK.. But my top 3 Bomb Jack, 1942 (one of my all time favourite arcade games) and then my favourite arcade game of all time (not including Star Wars sit down version) Kung Fu Master. I remember playing it in the arcades and I would draw crowds of older kids as I just beaten the 5th boss a second time, people of our generation will understand that feeling you get in the arcade and your skill of a game people would just stand and watch in admiration. Oh how I feel sorry for the generation who have never had the joy of an arcade with all those video games and there was a master of one of each game and you would just go up and talk about the game or games. All the kids know now is sit at home and play on there own. I still have great friends I just met randomly in an arcade. Take me back to the 80's. Love these videos of arcade games. Nostalgia overload.

Kung Fu (NES) Kung Fu Master (Arcade) Was called Spartan X in Japan on both the Famicom and in the Arcade. There was a Famicom-only sequel, Spartan X2, that was more like an adventure game than a stage-by-stage game like its predecessor.

Loved all ports and iterations of Kung Fu. Especially loved Kung Fu Master on the Game Boy. Theres an awesome fan game called Devils Temple - Son of the Kung Fu Master for the Amiga that I highly recommend. Also The Battle Road looks fun. Reminds me of Action Fighter which is badass for either the arcade or Master System.

I don't think I've ever played any arcade games from 1984 on the original hardware but, if we include ports, the arcade games of 1984 I've played the most are probably Marble Madness (released in December 1984 according to Wikipedia) and Flicky (since it's in a lot of Genesis compilations). I think 1984 was the year that the arcade in my small town shopping mall shut down. I never even got a chance to go inside because I think you had to be at least 14 years old to enter but I was only 9 turning 10 in 1984. My mother also didn't want us sneaking inside the arcade since she thought there was probably a lot of drug dealing going on inside, which may have been the case. (I have no idea.) In the summer of 1984, I went with my brother to visit some relatives in England for about three weeks and, at some point, one of the relatives took us to a pub which had some table format arcade games. I don't remember what the games were, I want to say they were something awesome like Ms. Pac-Man but I have a feeling they might have been just video slot machines.

In my opinion, Mighty Bomb Jack for the NES is one of the hardest games on the console. If you don't think so, then give it a try. Allow me to explain. There are, I believe, 40 levels, each level having multiple sub-levels, and there are so many ways you can be cornered by the enemies. You are only granted 3 lives (extra lives are extremely scarce) and ZERO continues.

I want to thank you for showing me what games were released the year I was born. I think the only game I'm aware of is 1942 because that is the one that has seen the most re-releases out of all the games mentioned. Even though I'm considered a millennial I do like games older than me. Especially Arcade Games from time to time. Oh and you should do a ranking of Digital Eclipse Compolation Games sometime.

1954 was that weird year for video games between 1983 being notable for the crash and 1985 being notable for the Nintendo E.S. ... although from what I read somewhere, that itself was only released in NY in October of 1985 and didn't get a full nationwide release until February 1986. Maye they were both weird years for video games? I was 4 in 1984.
