GameTek is probably best known for the selection of game shows brought to the NES but they had a few other non-game show games, too. Here's a look at all of them and were I'd rank them.

Some Good Ones. And some really bad ones. They were a hit or miss company... I sure am enjoying watching YOUR videos John Riggs!!! Its gonna be a good day when John Riggs releases a new collection video!!! I owned American Gladiators as a kid. It was good. So charming. I loved that game. Had its shortcomings. But it was a game changer game! Totally different type of game play from any game out then or now for that sake. And double date. I rented that from blockbuster.

12:32- “I don’t know who came up with this idea.” According to Wikipedia it was the wife of Merv Griffin, the creator of both Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He was trying to come up with game show ideas and she realized that there hadn’t been any quiz shows since the scandals in the 1950’s. She then suggested the idea of giving the answer and the contestants have to come up with the question. Merv liked the idea and pitched it to NBC. The rest-as they say- is history.

John, great video! I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Gametek nostalgically. They were a company that tried to do the gameshow video games to reach out to a broader video game audience like parents and grand parents. Gametek games were the only time I saw my grandparents play a video game through wheel of fortune and classic concentration. They never played or tried anything else lol. Yes, they were pretty rough around the edges games haha. However, You have to give them some credit to trying to do very difficult games show in a video game format on the limitations of a nes 8 bit system. Once again, thank you so much for these extraordinarily fun video. They bring back so many memories. My buddies and I even recorded the double dare nes theme abd obstacle course theme and played stupid crazy most unsafe haha games outside listening to the nes double dare song. Good times.

That's kinda crazy. Did it make for a decent enough show? You wouldn't think that would make for a fair enough, show? Did enough contestants compete close enough to make for a decent enough show? @@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism Oh, it was great! The Contestants were very physically fit types, firefighters, stunt performers, etc. The Gladiators were also physically fit, very muscular and did not hold back. Gladiators in the UK was brilliant. It was essentially pro wrestling. Cos all the gladiators had characters, and names like Wolf and so on. Jeopardy games are brutal in that they require you to have perfect spelling. So even if you know the answer, you can still get the answer wrong. Something I had to put up with on both the NES and the Genesis versions. Even the late Alex Trebek mentioned this a time or two, when contestants stated that they prepared by playing one of the video games. Also, Super Jeopardy was a short-lived Saturday edition that was also hosted by Trebek. To help set it apart from the weekday version, they featured a fourth player.

How about Press your luck? Might have been a fun one. Or maybe Legends Of The Hidden Temple, or a Where In The World Is Carmen Sandego game based on the PBS game show? Also, I liked Scooby Doo Meets The Harlem Globetrotters. But when I was a kid I loved watching reruns of Gilligan's Island and I loved the Harlem Globetrotters On Gilligan's Island made for TV movie.
