John, You were more fair than you had to be. I enjoyed the list so much brotha! We needed a MAME emulator back then to play the good versions of a lot of these games. But, it was a good time.. I thankfully didn't get burned by anything except a couple bad rentals.. 😂 😂 Keep it up my man!

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is not part of the SaGa series (You might be thinking of Final Fantasy Legend on the Game Boy). The game is called Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest in Japan.

John's story about being convinced he saw Waterworld for SNES at his local video store reminds me of how I was convinced for years that Dragon's Lair contained a mirrored version of the Lizard King scene. I was absolutely certain it was in the cabinets I'd played when the game was new (in 1983) and I was disappointed when the Sega CD version didn't include it. But then... no other home version ever included it either, and when I looked it up online I found scans of magazines from 1983 that explained how the scenes were selected, and none of them mentioned the Lizard King scene having a mirrored version. It never existed, yet I still can't quite let go of my belief that it did.

Mystic Quest on SNES isn't part of the Mana series, that's Mystic Quest for game boy (which is called Final Fantasy Adventure in the USA... confusing naming all around)

Ogre Battle has the most playtime out of any game I ever played on my SNES growing up. Ogre Battle 64 is one of my prized games in my collection. I love the series and love Ogre Tactics and have my original PS1 copy and the remaster. Great series. I always felt that Brigandine for PS1 was a spiritual successor to Ogre Battle.

I know there are a ton of games in this video and I have already commented on Ogre Battle. However, I had an Asterix game for my Sega Game Gear when I was a kid amd loved it. Played it for countless hours while riding in the car. You could play as Asterix and Obelisk as well.

Asterix was from the province of Gaul, which is in France. René Goscinny, the author, was Parisiain and created the comics in France, though, Jijé and Morris, the illustrators were Belgian. :)@@alannaramone3821

Actraiser 2 is criminally underrated, but you can't go in expecting an Actraiser game. It's actually a heavily combat-focused action platformer with some of the most depth the SNES has to offer in that genre. Look up speedruns for the game and you'll see a ton of fascinating tricks, such as exploiting the invincible frames on certain moves and aiming attacks to get more damage from them than the designers intended. It's almost a fighting game in some aspects, just one that happens to have platforming.

Secret of Mana has this design flaw (if you can call it that) that completely breaks the game once you know it. By far the most effective way to play is to always control Randi (the boy) and have the other characters cast magic with the X key. This way you're not frozen in place waiting for the animation to finish and you can even cast one immediately after another and buffer them, utterly pummeling any enemy without them fighting back. And while they are stunlocked Randi can easily charge up the strongest attack on top of that. It makes the entire game trivial. The remake fixed this.

Also, the SNES version of Super Wrestlemania was unfinished; you can see this if you check out the Genesis version. The wrestlers still all have the same stats etc., but they at least have their proper finishers there!

When will FF6 get a 3d re-release? Best story, best music, best villain in any game ever made to this day! The only thing you could improve on in FF6 beside the graphics (which are still amazing for 16-bit) would be a few bugs in the gameplay. But that's it. I've known the game for 28 years and it still holds up 100%. It's that good.

I liked Waterworld the film, too! I am playing Final Fantasy 4 right now on the switch, and I feel that with enough grinding, it ain't so bad, it's a great game.

If we're going for SNES RPG villains, Dhaos is far better than Kefka (yes, I know Tales of Phantasia wasn't released back then but I have enough copies of the game that I'm counting it). Way more complicated on a literary level.

I disagree entirely with Secret of Mana not being an S. Reason being is, there's many weapons to choose from, each has their strengths, you can level them up you can level up your charge attack, you can change up characters, many different magics, set up their attack zones, if you're getting bored of your current weapon just select a different one and level that one up. One thing they should have done is change how your character looks depending on the armor but at least they changed the weapons. I have an absolute blast playing secret of Mana! It's actually challenging if you do it without save states. Yes it's a long game, but I think that's a strength considering how much you have to work with.

I actually consider Secret Of Mana to be a 5th rate, bad Zelda clone and horribly overrated. He was WAY too nice to it.

Maximum Carnage was pulled exclusively from the comics, with many of the story images being pulled directly from the comic event of the same name. That said, the game is mediocre as a beat em up. I very much prefer the Animated Series game, which had a lot of nice comic references to go with the cartoon elements. Combine that with boss fights that took some creativity to beat, and the game would be a solid B for me.

When I was growing up we called it the snez, with a z sound. Sensible Soccer was voted one of the ten most important games of all time by a Stanford researcher in 2007 -wiki. The only none-US game on the list.

Unpopular opinion… all JRPG turn based games go F tier unless there is a lower tier you have not disclosed. I absolutely loathe all turn based games. Only thing I might hate more is sports ball games.
