John Sykes was such a powerful influence on me as a 9 year old barely able to get my hands across the fret-board and then as a teenager with his $400 electric guitar still hungry to learn and practicing in his room. As an adult (48 year old) he continues to inspire. His tone was incredible and his command of the instrument stands alone. Lets not forget he is covering rhythm & lead guitar here. Sykes is a legend & I await his next album. Much respect to Mr Sykes.

When he says, "as we look meekly on..." that means just what everyone is saying, that Sykes is "God like" on the guitar - so much that all we can do is simply look "meekly" on. meek·ly /ˈmēklē/ Learn to pronounce adverb in a quiet, gentle, and submissive manner. "to keep the peace, she nodded meekly and smiled" Coverdale committed probably one of the biggest injustice to rock n roll by replacing this guy. At the same time, Coverdale summed up his stint with the great John Sykes by saying, "If John (Sykes) just acted on .02 common sense, he will be alright..."
