That's a great question... I've only ever used the Schacht Arras and (I believe) Janna uses a variety of Mirrix looms but we've never had the chance of swapping and trying other looms. Both of these looms will have a shedding device and a function to increase the warp tension - two things that will really help with your tapestry weaving. Of course, there will be an aesthetic difference and a difference in feel during operation. The Arras only comes in one size but Mirrix offers a number of different sized looms, so that might help. Also, Mirrix has an optional power foot treadle that helps you change sheds without using your hands... then you can focus entirely on manipulating the weft yarn and beater.

I've just found myself interested in tapestry after meeting a tapestry weaver (and buying one of her pieces) and am in the information gathering phase. I'm a brand new weaver (just started in December -I started with the Siru rigid heddle loom because it seemed less intimidating than a multishaft loom and quickly bought a used 4 shaft Baby Wolf and so excited about how much there is to learn).
